Is This Going Around?

I was wondering if anyone elses child is going through this? My daughter is 2 and for the past month she has been coughing, sneezing, runny nose and now an ear infection. She has been to the Doctor in the past month 5 times and has been on a course of antibiotics and it just doesn't seem like it is getting any better not worse, but not 100% better. I know right now that I am having problems with my allergies and have for the past 2 weeks. At first she was diagnosed with a sinus infection then it went to an ear infection now I don't know...

Nystatin for Yeast Diaper Rash Making It Worse???

My nine month old was diagnosed monday with a yeast diaper rash. She was prescribed nystatin cream to be applied four times daily. We started putting it on right away and it seems like the rash is getting worse and she cries everytime we out the cream on. Does anyone know if this 9worse before better and burning/hurting) is normal or if she might be having a reaction to it? I plan to call the pediatrician first thing in the morning but thought I'd ask for any insight you have to offer tonight. Thank you.

Diaper Rash with Yeast Infection

My one year old daughter got a yeast infection about a week and a half ago and she is at a in-home daycare all day. I wish she can walk around without her diaper on however it may not be possible at all times. I have used a prescription ointment to clear up the infection but the rash seemed to of burned her on the sides and now it doesn't seem to want to clear up. I tried using pure corn starch and just regular petroleum jelly to stop the redness. I also like to use triple paste. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best course of...

Help! Screaming Baby! What to Eat When Nursing?

I'm dyin' here! My six-week-old is on Zantac for reflux, but she still cries...and cries and cries. For up to an hour and a half (usually right after I feed her.) I'm nursing exclusively - no formula. I give her Mylicon for gas, Maalox for indigestion. Nothing seems to be working. I can hear her little tummy creaking and groaning and can actually feel it when I'm holding her. I'm afraid to let her "cry it out" in her crib because it seems to hurt her worse when she's lying flat. People have told me what not to eat while I'm...

Bad Toddler Diaper Rash

My daughter has had the worse diaper rash off and on for over a month. I called the pediatrician and spoke to the nurse twice and do what she says, then it gets better for awhile and comes back worse. The first time we thought it was a yeast infection so we treated it by not using wipes, and using lotrimen followed with cornstarch, and making sure it was very dry. It got better, but came back again, this time with no bumpy rash, so I started using triple paste (very thick) and medicated cornstarch which made it better for awhile. But it...

In and Out of the Hospital with 13 Month Old

I have a 13 month old son who has had lots of problems with asthma. The first time he was hospitalized for it he was only 7 weeks old and it has been an on going battle ever since. For the past month and a half now we have been in and out of children’s hospital and it took them until this past Wednesday to finally figure out what was wrong. It turned out that he has a sever sinus infection and from all of the steroids that he has been on it shut down his immune system and caused it to spread to his lungs. I feel like everytime we are in...

Cankersore in a 4 Year Old What Can I Do

My daughter went to the dentist and they took x-rays of her mouth. The xray thing cut her mouth right where the cheek meets the bottom of the gums pretty good. It looks like a 3/4 inch long cankersore and I know those are extremely painful. She doesnt want to eat and is always crying that it hurts. I tried some of that cankersore medicine and within an hour she was saying her feet felt tickly so now im scared to give her anymore of that. we have done sea salt rinses what else can i put on there to at least numb it or help it heal faster?

Home Made Butt Paste Recipes (With Maalox) for Severe Rash~

When my daughter was little, the Dr recommended some concoction for her frequent outbreaks of horrid (bleeding open sores..the whole bit) diaper area rash. Often it was yeast involved as well. It would change from one diaper change to the next. We would do as much cloth diapering as we could when at home, etc and that helped a ton (water only paper towel wipes as well). But I do not remember what the recipe for the Maalox included concoction was and a friend is in need (My child is 16 now, so it was many years ago for me!). Anyone have a...

Giving Infant a Solutab

Hello! I have a 2 part question. 1) My 5 week old has been diagnosed with GERD. She was put on Zantac which didn't work and then switched to Prevacet. The Prevacet is a solutab (tablet that dissolves into granules). I was told to dissolve the tablet in a very small amout of water and then give her the pill with a syringe dropper. My problem is that the medicine is hard to dispense that way and most of it ends up running down her chin or stuck in the dropper. Have any other mothers had to give their infant a solutab and what method...

Hand Foot and Mouth

My son was just diagnosed with Hand Foot and Mouth and I am reaching out to all you moms who have had a child with this. Between the internet and the Dr. and neighbors and family, I am getting confused about how long it is supposed to last, how contagious it is, and when it would be safe for him to be around other kids. The Dr. told me it's fine just as long as they don't share sippy cups because it is transmitted through saliva. The internet is saying that the blisters will open and the fluid inside is what contains the virus and at...

The Age Old Potty Training Question with a Twist

Hi All, My daughter just turned 2. For the past 6 months she has gotten extreme diaper rashes that nothing helps. The doctors want her out of diapers of any kind. At first switching to Pull-ups helped some but no longer, if anything I think it is worse. Also, I have tried every diaper rash creme and ointment on the market and available by perscription. Even cornstarch no longer helps. My daughter is interested in looking at the potty, but not in using it. She has a small one and also the large one. Does anyone have any suggestions, she...

My 4 1/2 mo old twins were just diagnosed with reflux. The Dr recommended we start them on rice cereal 2/day to help (among other things). It has seemed to help Micah, but it just makes Noah constipated (he is normally 1-2/day regular and has gone 4 days, then 5 and SCREAMS every times he passes gas...including in the middle of the night) We have switched to Oatmeal and tried mixing prunes with the cereal...still same problems. I feel like I have traded one problem for the other....Any suggestions? Next....at 2 1/2 mo my boys were...
