Small/Slow Growing 16 Month Old

My son Gavyn is 16 months old. At his 15 month check-up, he was 17lbs 7oz, 29 inches long and 18in head. He's quite nearly off the charts small, so Gavyn's pediatrician and I decided to have a bone scan and blood work done to explore this further. (His growth curve is fairly steady, he's just very small) The bone scan turned up normal, but his pediatrician decided that he wasn't clear on some of the blood work, and is sending us to an endocrynologist. My husband is on the large side, 6ft, and I am very short, 4ft 11in. Gavyn seems...

Developmental Progress of 3 Month Old

My son is 3 months old and has been staying home with Daddy for the past 2 weeks. We've noticed that he absolutely LOVES watching TV and this kinda scares me. I don't want him to be glued, however, something tells me he's not actually enjoying what's on TV that he's actually enjoying the colors and movement on the TV. I know lots of professionals feel that TV for babies is a HUGE no no! But if it stimulates the brain and it's educational than can it hurt? I've thought about buying the Baby Einstein DVD. Does anyone have it and how does this...

I received several Baby Einstein DVD's as shower gifts. A friend recently told me that she read an article that Baby Einstein DVD's are not recommended. She couldn't remember why. Do you have any experience with the DVD's? Thanks!

10 Month-old Too Wiggly for Diaper Changing

We're all of a sudden having difficulties changing my 10-month old girl's diapers. She wants to wiggle away, grab something, turn around, stand up, anything but lay down to change her diaper. I've tried entertaining her with fun toys and singing songs but sometimes have to resort to putting on the diaper with her standing up or holding her down (no fun for anyone). Any tips to make diaper changing more pleasant?

Best Bottle for Colic

New to this website...ok--My hubby and I are trying to get pregnant with our second child. My first son, now a healthy 8 year old, had major tummy issues as an infant!! Very colic-gas-spit uppy baby. So...my question is do any of you other Mamas use the Avent or Dr. Brown's bottles?? I used the regular type with my son and I am hoping to use something different with the next one (trying to ward off all those sleepless nights!) Let me know if the extra cost is worth it or if you have any other recommendations. Of course, I will breast...

Baby Einstein Videos

Just wanted opinions on the Baby Einstein Videos. It is my understanding they were developed by a stay at home Mom trying to find something to stimulate her children's minds. I don't obviously want my child raise by the tv but I thought a half hour of this when he's fussy just to settle him down a bit is ok. Does anyone have any of these videos and do they really work?

Difficult 6 Month Old

Okay...so I have two girls. A six year old and a six month old. My six year old was and still is the child every parent wishes for. Now...my six month old is completely opposite and is a huge handful. She is six months old and doesn't want to sleep at nap or at night and wakes every two hours...to play. Naps last about 20 minutes and she takes maybe two or three a day. She also has some severe seperation anxiety. The minute I am not within a two foot radius of her...she freaks out. She also screams and cries whenever she is put down...

18 Mo Old All Boy Needing Help Controlling His Hands

Help, my sweet beautiful all boy just started this with raising his hands to hit. He is an only child, and is with me all day. So he doesn't see any other kids hit. He doesn't see his daddy or me hit, so we are not sure where he is getting this all of a sudden. He does not watch TV, besides the occasional little people or baby Einstein video. We are not sure where or why this started, he is raising his hands to hit at us, the dogs, or even whatever is not going his way (doors that won't open, etc...) Anyone seen this should I be worried,...

Does Baby Einstein Rot Babies Brains???

Hi there, so my son started watching baby einstein at maybe 5 months old and LOVED it. He'd completely pay attention and we'd watch together for hours. We, of course, played as well and read a lot too. I thought it was good for him to watch this and now.... 5 years later..... I'm not so sure. He is SO smart, everyone including his teachers has always said so, definitley at the top of his class as far as academics go. But he has such a hard time concentrating, he gets distracted very easily, especially by the TV. But even in class they have...

My 2 1/2 year old boy's pediatrician recommended that we do speech therapy for him. He has the words but cannot put a sentence together. I would appreciate if anyone can suggest any DVD, books or other materials that can used at home for speech development. Right now, we cannot afford expensive therapy and also the therapists are farther away and we have just 1 car!! Thanks so much for your help.
