Air Travel Requirements and Baby Snacks

I am getting ready to take my 13 month old to Florida tomorrow. When looking at security requirements, I am worried about making sure my son has something healthy to drink. It looks like I can't bring juice from home because it comes in larger than 3oz containers. Has anyone tried? Could I put 3 oz in a cup and have my hubby put another 3 oz and we take it through security that way? Or if we try to buy something after the checkpoint, do they sell 100% fruit juice back there? Or even whole milk? It seems like everywhere I have seen...

Is Three Months Old Too Early to Begin Cereal, and Gerber 1St Foods?

My son is 3 months old, and it has seemed that the usual 6 oz every 3-4 hours isn't satisfying him anymore...he constantly seems hungry,,he has even at times taken 8 oz of formula. He can sit up with support, and his head is still a little "wobbly", He has shown an interest in the families dinner time, and is always "gnawing" on his fists and fingers! What do you think? If he is ready,,,what is the best way to start, (i.e. what to feed him first, how long,,when to introduce gerber 1st foods?) Thanks

Are diaper liners necessary when using prefolds w/ diaper covers? Introducing Solids to Daughter, Digestion Is Tough

I have a 5 month old daughter just starting out on some solids. We prepare fresh fruits, veggies, oatmeal and rice. She also enjoys cherrios and graham crackers. Obviously her digestion has changed, but should she labor with bowel movements? I think this may be the reason she was up crying every two hours tonight. Anyone have the same experience and any suggestions? I will discuss with our family doctor next visit.

Doctor Said I Was Feeding Baby Too Much Formula?

Today my daughter had a check up at the doctors. She will be 11 months old next week. I try to feed her real food but it seems like she only likes cheerios and those gerber snacks by the baby food isle. The doctor asked how many bottles I give my baby a day on formula and when I told him 7-8, he seemed very shocked and said that it wasnt good for her. That she should only be having 4 bottles of formula a day. That also she should not be falling asleep with a bottle. At dinner time I feed her what we are eating and she will eat a...

Hi everybody, my 2 and a half year old daughter has extremly curly hair. On top of that it ofcourse is baby fine. I have to brush it every night and every morning....if I dont it literally becomes a rats nest, almost dreds. She ofcourse HATES me to do anything to it so I have just resolved to knowing that this is our life for now...twice a day I chase her around the house until I pin her down to comb. ANYWAY, just a little venting..my question is products. I am currently using Target brand detangler. It is a $1.07 a bottle which is my...

Do You Have Gerber Life Insurance

I don't know if I should get Gerber Life Insurance for my 2 year old. My father has one policy for her (he gets one for all the grandkids) but he's 69 now, and I don't know if he'll have it forever. I don't know if I should get one too. I have a nephew that's 11 - and he's now diabetic, and uninsurable, so that's really got me thinking. Does anyone have it and/or have any experience with it??

Natural Remedies for Red, Itchy Rash

My 21 month old boy has this large red rash on his bum/lower back. It started out small and didn't bother him and it was getting better but just this morning I got him out of bed and it is much worse and he is itching it now. The red areas are slightly raised and some areas are peeling. We are letting him run around with out his diaper as much as possible and we use Seventh Generation diapers so I know it isn't a sensitivity to his diaper. So, far we have just been using Earth's Best diaper rash onitment. I am wondering if any one has...

Gerber Life Insurance?

I got this peice of mail the other day and it was for Gerber life insurance. No idea what that is? I called and asked how things work with that but I am not, in my community no one I know of gets life insurance. My kids are young we are trying to teach our oldest how important it is to save. But Life Insuarance I HAVE NO IDEA? I guess I am asking for some help to understand this. I understand when someone dies and they have this insurance it can go to unpaid bills, funeral and other unpaid expenses so in my kids case it would be there until...

How Long Did It Take You to Potty Train?

I am just curious how long it took you mamas to potty train your kids? My DS has been in big boy underwear for a month and a half and will go TT in the potty most of the time. He doesn't tell me he has to go, but will hold it until he's taken to the potty. He usually has about two, sometimes 3 accidents a day with TT. I know I can't turn back now and put him in pull-ups...but we are both getting tired of all the focus on pottying every day. Thanks!

Coughing, Congestion & Throwing Up... Oh My! Please Help!

Hi Mommies, I really need some help - and I apologize in advance that this will probably be pretty lengthy. My son (Christopher) just turned 1 last week. For about the past month though, he has had a cough and some congestion (not constant congestion, but you can definitely hear it when he starts coughing a lot and at night sometimes when he’s breathing). First he had the cough for about a week and I made him an appointment at his Pediatrician's office. We saw the Nurse Practitioner and she did a full exam - and said that his left ear...

How Can I Get My Baby to Be a Gerber Baby?

This is a silly question and I haven't given it much thought. I know that every mom thinks that their child is the most beautiful child in the world and I am no exception. I have recently been told a lot that my son is very photogenic (?) and happy and would be good as a gerber, pampers etc baby. My question is..has anyone had any experience with that kind of stuff and if it is something that I would decide to try and do, how would I even begin? Thanks for your time!

Gerber Baby Food Plastic Containers

With all the news coverage about concerns over plastics I've started checking the recycling codes on all the stuff our son uses. I noticed over the weekend that Gerber Baby food comes in plastic with a recycle code of 7 - which has been reported to contain BPA. I've emailed the company and for the time being have switched to brands (Earth's Best) that come in glass containers - but really miss the variety that Gerber offered. Any advice on making baby food at home or resources that explain how to make baby food? I'm pretty short on time...
