What Do You Mamas Do for Your Bdays?

My birthday is next week and all of my friends keep asking me what I will be doing... and I have no idea!! I do know that I don't want to spend an arm and a leg and I may or may not have a babysitter during the night hours...so I am not sure if going out with hubby would be an option or if I even want to leave my kiddos on my birthday as they love to celebrate the family bdays together. What do you mamas do for your birthdays? I was contemplating a spa day for a portion of the day but it is only going to be like 73 degrees.

What can I do next?

Happy almost birthday!!

I want it to be 78 degrees!!!

What I'd love to do for my birthday in January (the 15th, if you ladies want to make me a cake, LOL!!), either go to WV to go skiing or find a sitter and sit at the OTB and gamble and drink all night ;)

What will I end up doing? The standard 'dinner with the family' and... nothing.

I'll be happy with whatever :)

I am a twin so we always spend birthdays together. Usually morning/afternoons are spent with the rest of the family and then we usually go out for dinner with friends and a few drinks, but last year we had all the girls over to my house for mexican food and drinks and played all the wii dance games. It was fun.

Birthdays are generally celebrated on the closest weekend in our immediate family and everyone gets a "birthday weekend." If my actual birthday falls on a weekday I'm almost always at a little league game because my birthday is in July and both of our boys play baseball. For my birthday weekend, I usually have one dinner out with my husband and maybe a movie or a play, then one night of my favorite carry-out pizza at home and then always some carrot cake. I try to do something little for myself like a special work out, walk or bike ride, maybe some quiet time reading or taking the kids to the waterpark and relaxing on a lawn chair. For my 50th in two years (OMG), I'm hoping to splurge on a big family trip. Happy birthday!

As little as possible.
My birthday is the day after Christmas, so everyone is busy playing with their new toys.
It's my day to relax, be at no one's beck and call and just enjoy myself.
A movie is great if there's something good up.
A Red Robin burger and a carrot cake with a few candles in it, and I'm good.

I requested homemade cards from the husband and kid. Nothing store bought. I wanted to have something they spent at least 15 minutes planning and making and overall thinking of just me.

Then I wanted coffee in bed when I woke up that day. Door shut, just sat there like a queen in wonderful silence w/my favorite coffee and creamer and stared out the window being lazy b/f my feet hit the floor.

I also requested for my husband to be in charge of getting take out dinner and cleaning up at the end of the day. That way, there wouldn't be a mess to clean up the day after my bday.

I read favorite parts of my favorite book (Outlander) all day. It was awesome.

I didn't want any money spent on me at all and my guys came through!

have a great birthday!

Hahahaha...you said it's ONLY going to be 73. That's shorts and tank top weather up here! :) (right now it's about 43)
For my birthday I don't really like to *do* anything. Last year we took the kids out to dinner to a restaurant I like. We brought their DS's so they could play while papa and I chatted and the baby slept through most of it. That's it.

I always spend it with my family. I think as we get older, the birthday's are almost more important for the kids (our birthdays that is). So we do family stuff ON birthdays and then my hubby and I will do a joint something since our birthdays are 9 days apart.

And do you want to pass us some of that 73 degrees?!?! It's been FREEZING here in MD!

I usually have dinner the week of with my parents and also his family (not at the same time). I go to Girls Night Out with friends once a month so if they want to celebrate with me, that is the time. Unless we HAVE a sitter and then I'll go out on a weekend with friends but since hubby works weekends, this usually means I go without him.

If my bday falls during the week, we will have a family dinner (my mom comes over) of my choice at home ( I ususally make it...lol!) with dessert of my choice. Then on the weekend that we have our kids, we will have a "fun day" and do some activites for "my birthday". But in reality, we would have done them anyway just to keep the kids entertained! =) Then on the other weekend we don't have the kids (our ex's have them every other weekend) my hubby will do something special for me like take me out to movies, dinner, away for the weekend and give me something nice (usually jewlery). =)

My husband usually cooks dinner for me. Handmade cards from the kids. What I do for myself is usually buy myself something frivolous under $20. Maybe a cute purse or shoes, pretty necklace. I dont spend much, but just the point of buying something small for myself makes me feel I've fully celbrated.

Aside from dinner and cake at home we generally don't do anything extra for the adult bdays-- the kid ones are mre fun. The year my son was born DH knew I needed a night out and sent me to Denver with two girlfriends and his credit card. We lasted till about 11 then came home, we were so beat! This year DH was gone on my bday and had arranged for dinner to be delivered and had cupcakes delivered too, so that was nice. Then I had a Vampire Diaries mini-marathon after kids went to bed. For my 30th my best friend and I are having a "Dirty Thirty" cruise and inviting practically everyone we know for a weekend long party, but that isnt for two more years. Until then, I'm content with minimal expenses paid for my bday.

I have been thinking a little bit about this too because my birthday is in between my son's birthday (around Thanksgiving) and Christmas. I don't want to have a lot of money spent on me, especially since we will be spending money on our son's 1st birthday and Christmas with the family. I was thinking going to a brunch that they have here the day after my birthday, but I might just ask for my honey to make a good dinner and have cake at home! I would love to have friends and family come over for cake in the evening, but we have moved 2500 miles away from our loved ones. Can't wait until Christmas when we get to see everyone again!

My birthday is the day before Thanksgiving so, a big meal and nice visit with my family is usually what I get. I would love one year to have a nice get together with friends though. Not sure if that would ever hppen.

Have a wonderful birthday and I hope you get to kick back, relax and enjoy your special day!

Last year my husband took the boys away so I got to sleep in! We had a good lunch together that the boys helped cook, and they gave me home made cards. Best birthday ever. <grin>

I usually take the day off work and do whatever I want by myself during the day. Watch some movies, go to a movie, go shopping, pamper myself. Then I go out to dinner and celebrate with my family after husband gets home from work with the kids.
