Baby's Birthday Same as Mom's?

I am 12 weeks pregnant with baby number 2 and my due date happens to be my birthday. This has made me wonder how many of you have kids with birthdays that are on or near yours. I'm mostly just curious, but I also wonder how you handle birthdays that are very close together.
Thanks!

lol. My baby's birthday is July 14th; mine is July 1st and my older daughter's is July 21st. My brother's is the 20th. My husband's is Dec 20th, my son's Dec. 16th, and my dad's Dec 21st. So my immediate 5 of us have the girls in July, the boys in December. We just "party" both months. lol

Me! My oldest son's is exactly two weeks before mine, our newest daughter is 4 days before mine, and my middle son and I share a birthday! We always give our babies their 'own' first birthday party, and now they have a combined party. I just go out to dinner or something for mine over the weekend or something with my family. It's really no big deal.

my husband, his twin brother, and their step dad all have the same birthday. We usually celebrate with 2 cakes, one for the boys and one for the step dad, and a nice dinner. I'm not sure what they did growing up, but they were teenagers when their mom married the step dad.

My birthday is 6/26 and my middle son is 6/21. For his first birthday we had it on my actual birthday just because that was the only time we could get the family together. My Aunt said happy birthday to me and I said no its Kyle's party and she had to remind me that it was my birthday because I forgot since I was doing things for my son.

My daughters due date was 4 days after my birthday but she was 3 days late so she ended up 1 week after mine. We don't really celebrate adult birthdays in my family, maybe a card and cake, but mine being so close to my daughters worked out for me. My parents and brother don't want me too feel left out when she having her party, so I always end up with something. One year they all chipped in a bought us a computer system, which was awesome because I couldn't afford to buy it myself. Another year it was bikes. That would never happen if our birthdays weren't so close.

My son was born on his dad's birthday!
When my son turned 1, I ordered a large cake with a small cupcake placed on top, and both their names written on the cake.
We only celebrate within our small family so it has not been a problem yet but when my son grows up, I guess he will have his own party (where dad's birthday is acknowledged but we do not have parties for adult birthdays anyways)...

My sister and her daughter have the same birthday. My sister woke on her birthday and said....this baby is coming today whether I like it or not. And sure enought her daughter was born that night. She had wanted her to have her own birthday...but 13 years later it doesn't seem to be an issue. It is usually centered around her daughter, but for my sisters 50th birthday her daughter and husband planned a surprise party for my sister. I think now my sister thinks it is special that they share a birthday. I am also a twin and have twins myself....so it has never seemed like a big deal to share a birthday. I don't know any different and either do my twins. They are boy/girl and still plan their party together. I'm sure there will be a time when they want their own thing, but they are happy together now.

My mom's birthday is 2/19 and both my brother and I were born on 2/20. I always tell my younger brother that he ruined by 2nd birthday :-).

Growing up my brother and I had our "friend" parties individually but we usually did just do one big celebration for the 3 of us for our birthdays with just the family.

Good luck,

My husband's birthday is the day after his mother's. We just have a lot of dinners and celebrations -usually combine his mothers and her time with him and then we'll go out to dinner on our own or have a party. You'll just have to see when yours arrives! Good luck!

My son's birthday is 6 days before mine. I celebrate his birthday, but we just go out to dinner for mine. I feel like he should have his own day and I don't need all the fuss for mine.

My friend's son was born on her birthday. She doesn't really celebrate hers, though people usually bring her a gift, too because they know it's her birthday, too.

You just have to make the decision how YOU want to do it.

My birthday and my sons are two days apart. I had a c-section with him and got to pick the day. I choose the day farthest from mine.

I did this because I wanted him to have his own day. We do something small for my birthday and have a party for his.

I think that other than milstone birthdays, parties should be just for kids.

My sister had her two youngest have the same exact due date. But when it came time she made sure she waited to have the last one so it wouldn't be on the brothers bday. They are 2 days apart. I would just recommend if you do have your baby on your birthday just make sure you make it special every year for them. Good luck.

My oldest was due on my birthday (and I spent on and off that day and the next 3 in the hospital).... She actually wasn't born until 15 days later! I swore I would never "saddle" a child with a Christmas birthday, so she came late enough to miss it! I would have been happy sharing though :) My dad's birthday was 2 days after mine, so our family celebrated the birthdays the day between with special meals and cake (shared).....

In my family growing up, my dad and sister were 12/31, I am 1/2 so we have always celebrated together. Often we had a cake on each day with separate pictures and opened the presents. But later on it became more celebrating together on one of the three days, 31, New Years or 2. now, my twin sons were born day after hubby, 6/15, and 6/16. So we have one party for all, usually on the weekend nearest. Celebrate Father's Day in there too, somewhere as that is usually one of those weekends! No big deal in our family!

My mother and I had birthdays a day apart. When I was a child, we celebrated them together (on my birthday). After I became an adult we still celebrated together, but whenever it was most convenient for both of us. She always told me I was the best birthday gift she ever got. The year I turned 40 was the saddest day for me, and not because of the milestone birthday. My mother had passed away from cancer three months before, and it was the first birthday I had to celebrate without her. Your post reminds me of how much I miss her, and how precious every day is that we have with our loved ones.

My son's birthday is 15 days before mine, and my daughter's birthday is 6 days after mine...all in the month of July. Up until this point, I have kept their birthday parties separate but am thinking of combining them sometime in the next few years. As for my birthday, it does get lost in the mix. When I found out with each pregnancy that I would be delivering in July I was initially disappointed for the fear that I would "lose" my birthday, but truthfully now I don't care. It's just another day and I so much prefer to give the focus and attention to my kids.

Hi B.,

My mom and I have the same birthday, it's coming up soon, too! July 26. She's a twin as well! We always celebrated our birthdays together. :) Although for the first 7 years I remember it was mainly about me. After that, I guess 8 is when we, kids, start to realize our own identity, mom and I always celebrated our birthday together. Forward 21 years, our birthdays have become our day when we always see each other and I thank her for bringing me to this world as she smiles back and I feel a comfort that everything is going to be just, Grand! Congratulations to your new baby! Wishing you both a wonderful birthday!

My oldest and I are 2 weeks apart (one week if he would have come on time) and my DH and our youngest are a week apart along with my DH sister who is 2 weeks from my DH, so August and Nov/Dec we party tons and try to give each person their own weekend family party but occassionally they have to be combined with the focus on the kiddos' birthdays (financially, I know those months come every year-lol-so I just save up so we have plenty of $ to give each person a nice birthday).

On an funnier note-my mom and stepmom bdays are 2 weeks apart with my stepsister falling exactly between all in sept so really aug/sept are chock full of bdays!

And an even funnier thing, my stepsister, SIL (married to my stepbrother) and I were/are all due with our first babies on or around Nov 30th over a four year period (lol-something must have been in the water each Feb-lol!)

My birthday is the day before my mother's...my daughter's due date was two weeks later, but she had other plans. She was born emergency C-section on my mom's birthday. It is weird with all three of us in a two day period, to say the least, but my mom and daughter have a special bond that I never knew would happen. We focus on her on her birthday, of course, but I think it is a good legacy.

well, i just had my 2nd son 2.5 mnths ago on june 24th...whoch happened to be my due date AND my husband's birthday. Now the shocker is that my 1st son's birthday is June 28th...4 days later!!! So i am in the same boat. i have 3 birthdays within 4 days. my plan is to allow my newborn to celebrate his 1st bday alone. (last yr we did my hubby and 1st sons bday 'fiesta' 2gether) So my intent is to have both of my boys celebrate 2gether because it wouldnt be feasible to have to seperate parties financially. and in addition to the birthdays, I have fathers day right b4 the birthdays start...so trust me, i can understand your concerns
