Possible Sinus Infection During Pregnancy

Hi everyone, I'm hoping we have a nurse or doctor lurking around here. My OB's office is closed on the weekends and only takes emergencies on weekend calls. I'm 15 weeks pregnant and what has started out as a nasty cold may have developed into a sinus infection. The pain and pressure in my face is getting worse every day and becoming unbearable. Does anyone know what OTC medications other than sudefed and tylenol will help with this that I can take? I know that sinus infections are typically treated with antibiotics but there isn't much I...

How to Add Cereal to a Bottle

I have a question about adding cereal to a bottle. I have tried to add a small amount of rice cereal to my son's bottle, but it only clogs up the hole in the nipple. I am not putting very much at all in, so how do I avoid this? I use the Playtex Nurser system. Maybe I need a different kind of bottle nipple. I have tried using a nipple with a bigger hole, but that doesn't work either. I have heard countless people say they have added cereal to milk or formula, so I know it can be done. I could never figure out how to make this work when I...

Food Ideas for Milk Protein Allergy and Soy Allergy

My son was diagnosed at 5 days with a severe milk protein allergy. He is currently on Enfamil Nutramigen formula. When he turned one we had allergy testing done and discovered that he was allergic to milk and soy, which is pretty much in EVERYTHING! I am getting frustrated with trying to find different things things to feed him. (and frustrated trying to STOP family from feeding him things he is allergic to.) Any ideas or recipes that I could try that the whole family might enjoy? I prefer simple and easy, but I am willing to try almost...

Family with Autistic Child

A family at my children's school suffered a fire over the weekend that destroyed their home. Their 5 yr old son is autistic so you can probably imagine how having his home, schedules, belongs, etc destroyed is affecting him. They are currently staying in a hotel for the moment, so barely any comforts of home. I am going tonight to pick up a gift card for the family from our PTO but also wanted to get some individual things for the children. I am looking for some advice on what might be a good toy/game for the 5 yr old - what kind of toys...

Any Ideas for Re-occuring Bed Wetting

My 5 year old son has started bed wetting again after almost a year of rare occurences. I think it's because he's starting kindergarten this week, and is very excited. It's the only new event that could possibly be bringing this on. Last night it happened twice. We've told him we may have to try "big boy" overnight pants (which upset him---because "pull-ups are for babies--not kindergartners"--his words. Any other ideas, besides getting him up 3 times a night? We're already taking him to the bathroom before we go to bed and again...

Cold Medicines While Pregnant

I just called my doctor about what I can take while sick and pregnant. I've gotten so many different answers from people that I'm not sure who I beleive. My girlfriend said she was told anything Tylenol and she took Tylenol Cold and Flu. When I asked my nurse, she said yes, anything Tylenol but not cold and flu. Nothing with pseodophedrine in it. Not sure how to spell that. The pharmicist near me said Sudafed which is probably the closest to pseodophendrine you can get. Help. I have chest congestions, stuffed nose and runny and...

My son is almost 9 and has been suffering with tummy aches and constipation for a couple months now. What to Put in a Bottle When Baby Has a Fever?

Hello everyone. My 15 month old son has been running a fever since Wednesday night. It's been a low-to-medium grade fever... goes up and down as the tylenol takes effect and wears off. He is teething and cutting molars, but I really don't think it's teething, because until now, he has NEVER run a fever while teething.(although my older three boys always did, this one just doesn't) He really hasn't wanted to eat any food, just a few bites of this, and maybe one bite of that... very little.
