Pink Eye? :( - Clinton,MO

Yesterday my right eye was bothering me when I put my contacts in, I didn't think much of it since my allergies are really bad right now and I have been having problems wearing contacts with my allergies right now. I took them out before bed as usual, and when I woke up this morning my eye was a little blood shot, it went away after an hour or so and looked normal the rest of the day. Off and on the entire day it burned like when you get shampoo in your eye. I have had eye infections before from sleeping in my contacts, which is why I no longer do it. But they weren't anything contagious. So tonight I finally make it in to the bathroom once the kids are in bed, and I look in the mirror and my entire eye is red, not bloodshot but red all over. It doesn't hurt or burn right now which is why I was a bit shocked to see it look like that. I already made an appointment with my eye doctor this morning, it isn't until tomorrow afternoon though.

I have never had pink eye (cross my fingers) but if that is what this was wouldn't I be having a lot of discharge and matting of my eye? Wouldn't my other eye have it too? I have been washing my hands constantly all day trying not to spread this to my kids, if it is pink eye. I know I will find out tomorrow, but I'm a little freaked out that my entire eye is red and doesn't hurt.

*Nope, not itchy at all and no goop yet, I hope I don't wake up to it either! It's more of a I got shampoo in my eye, or opened my eyes under water burning feeling.

*I already use Clear Care, and have a script for allergy eye drops I use twice a day. I love Clear Care, I have my husband using it now!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Not pink eye, thank goodness. Just some weird eye infection from my contacts.

Not sure on pink eye, but clear care solution helps when allergies make it near impossible to wear my contacts. I get a lot of protein build up. Also a script for pataday eye drops. I wouldn't mess around with my eyes. If not better tmrw I would get checked.

It doesnt sound like pink eye to me. Let us know what the doc says. I wear contacts too and I'm pretty lazy about taking them out at night and sometimes leave them in for several days. I just squirt the cleaning fluid in my eye for a quick rinse. I've had sore eyes before tho and they will get pretty bloodshot, so I switch to glasses for a couple of days to give my eyeballs a break and that usually cures me up.
If it was pink eye, it would be all itchy and lots of goop would be coming out of it. You might wake up to that in the morning.....

I looked up Clear Care and read this... I dont think I'll try it.

My contacts did the same thing to my eyes. I realized i hadn't got new ones in two/ three months. They would get red and PAINFUL! I had to stop wearing my contacts for a good 2 months to let my eyes clear up and rest. I got the new contacts and it didn't happen again. But man! The old ones. I have never had that happen before. I usually use my contacts for 4 months before using new one ( I know it's bad. I can't afford new ones that often)
I thought I had pink eye, but no or very little discharge. Stay healthy preggers!

Nope, not pink eye. I just caught that recently courtesy of my son. You would have LOTS of disgusting goop by now and your eye would be very sore.

Glad you have an eye appointment booked, I don't know what it could be. I need to book one soon, I tore my contact in two and lost half of it in my eye yesterday. After an hour or so I finally got it out. The woes of contact wearers... Good luck!

You should get the herbal drops called Pinkeye remedy. They are very good. Use those several times and you'll likely be half cleared up before the appointment. It might not work as fast since it sounds bad. We use it on the kids before they look bad. If they are itchy, anything even slightly red or watery eyes, we use it. It works very well.

If its pink eye its not bad. You just squirt some presciption anti-bi's in your eye and it should clear up in 24 hrs.

There is actually another infection you can get in your eyes that appears like pink eye but no discharge. I wear contacts and have had it 3 times. I was told to remove my contacts so my eyes could heal but no meds to use. It was sort of like an eye virus. It was really annoying and lights hurt my eyes so bad the first time, I had to wear sunglasses all the time.
Pink eye does not always appear in both eyes.
