Women and Children's Shelter to Donate To

I am looking for a women and children's shelter I can donate gently used toys and clothing to. We have a lot of stuff and I am not one to do a yard sale or donate to goodwill where they resell the items. I really want to donate them to people who have nothing. I live in Forest Park so I would like to find something in the area (or Oak Park, River Forest, Berwyn, Melrose Park etc..) I would love your suggestions. TIA!

We have donated to Cathedral Shelter, who cares for women, men and families. Some items go directly to those in need, some are sold at their Second Chance store. They are a very gracious and grateful organization and do pick-ups all around the area.

We have given to The House of The Good Shepherd in Wrigleyville. They are a battered women/childrens shelter. Maybe a bit too far for you, but if you call, maybe they can direct you somewhere in your area.

I am the director of Angel Haven Foundation. We support 170 families in the appalachian mountains for the past 9 years. We are always looking for donations of any kind. 100% of the proceeds goes towards the families. If you have not found another charity please, please consider ours. I would be more than happy to come and pick it up from you.
Thank you for considering us!

Sarah's Inn women's shelter in Oak Park or Parenthesis also in Oak Park does a bi-annual sale that benefits the work they do with single parents, teen parent, and parenting classes. You can donate stuff and they will price it and sell it and you take it off your taxes or you can price it and get half the proceeds. Hope that helps.

New Mom's Inc. is a wonderful place to donate too. I believe the website is www.newmomsinc.org I've done volunteer work for them in the past.

I love to take my items to a place in Palatine called PHD. They donate these items to parents who can't afford a lot. Every other month the parents of the younger children can go there and get outfits, toys, formula, books, baby food, etc. It's so great! I donate there all the time. I'd be more than happy to make a trip your house to pick up when I go there next time...which will be probably within 2 weeks or so. Please let me know as they would be gracious to receive these items, and I'd be more than happy to pick up. Thanks.
