I know this may be a TMI question but this morning in the shower I felt a bump inside my vigina. It hasn't been there in the last week. She doesn't have appt till mid april and I am afraid I will worry myself to death. Has anyone had this and it was nothing?

What can I do next?

i have had a swollen lymph node in my groin area once, very frightening. It cleared up in a few months.

Small cysts can form for no apparent reason - they just have fluid and are not cancerous. I used to have about 20 in each breast - freaked me out at first, of course, but it was a common condition that I have since gotten rid of. A small varicose vein can show up as a bump too - it's not usually hard. There are things called papules that are just like thickened areas of skin - they're a little firmer, but they are nothing. Could be a small wart. Could be a lymph node - those swell up when your body is fighting a little bit of an infection and they are a normal immune system response - your body doing what it's supposed to do. Do not freak out about this. I'm sure there are a million other causes.

I am surprised that you cannot get a quick, "focused visit" appointment for just this one thing - you don't need a full physical most likely, just a 15 minute check. Call up and tell them you'd like them to squeeze you in, or at least call you if they have a cancellation.

And please don't ever feel that questions on this site are TMI - if someone doesn't want to read it, they can skip the question. I'm not the lease bit offended, and I read all kinds of questions on this site about sex, poop, bumps, kiddie vomit, and more. That's what we're here for - to support each other in an anonymous fashion!

First off - do NOT stress.

Second - we get surges of hormones and in-grown hairs - if it's not painful - DO NOT STRESS over it.

Call your GYN and let them know what you have found - describe it to them the best you can...then ask them if they want to see you NOW or wait 3 weeks? Does it feel HARD or SQUISHY? Is it the size of a pencil eraser or a pea?

if you just had a pedicure or a massage - it can cause your lymph nodes to swell...yep - it happens, my lymph nodes in my groin swell when I get a pedicure done. After I have massages, if I don't drink plenty of water - my throat and my groin nodes well - the one in my groin and neck can swell up to the size of a golf ball and be VERY uncomfortable....they usually go away with my drinking plenty of water in 24-48 hours.

Again DO NOT STRESS or PANIC!! Call your dr and let them know what you have found - describe it as best as you can and let them make the determination of now or 3 weeks.

I have had that happen before. Mine turned out to be a small cyst that cleared up on its own. It could be a cyst or pimple. I wouldn't stress too much unless it gets larger or hurts. Hope it works out for you!

it could be some sort of cyst which is usually no big deal at all, sometimes it can even be a turned under hair. I would not panic and just remember to ask about it during your regular check up. Hot compresses can help. I have had two different kinds of cysts, some that I had during my pregnancy were quite painful and had to be lanced and drained by a doctor. One had to be surgically removed, I believe it was called a pilonidal cyst, but that is typically found in other erm regions of the body. My grandmother referred to them as "boils" and I am not sure if that is accurate or not. But sitz baths can help as well.
Please don't panic, panic never helped anyone and there is not a lot of reason to be anxiety filled until you see your doctor. I am sure your obgyn can put your mind at ease.

Look into the symptoms of STDs & other infections online to see if you have any thing similar. If it's painful, check out herpes or cysts. You don't want to wait around til April if you have something contagious or serious. If it's not painful & goes away on it's own then it might not be so serious.

I'm pretty sure you have what is called a ''Bartholin Cyst''. It's pretty much caused by glands in the vagina becoming blocked or obstructed by fluids.I had one a couple of years ago and I just went to Planned Parenthood and they ''popped'' it for me(Sorry TMI, But that's what needs to be done to get rid of it!) It's a very quick process and hardly painful. After that, they will give you antibiotics to make sure the site doesn't get infected, since it's a very sensitive site. Don't worry you will be fine! Here is a link to The Mayo Clinic's website page for Bartholin Cysts: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/bartholin-cyst/DS00667
