I dont have a smart phone yet. My dad has an android and loves that app that allows him to take a pic of a bar code to see how much something costs while he's shopping.

I have a Droid too but my faves are

Keyring - no more plastic store discount cards cluttering up your wallet!!!
Kidmode - customizes videos and games for your kids based upon their age & (the best part) disables all the other buttons on your phone so your kid can only play in Kidmode and not jack up your phone or call Finland.
InkPad - I need a note or list to remind me of everything
Grocery IQ - you & your kids/significant other can add to the grocery list and it's all right there for you. You can even put prices in so you know what you'll be spending when you shop.

Google sky map- points out where the different stars / planets are from your gps position.
shazam- want to know what that song is?? pull up shazam, tells you the song artist, and if they are touring.
and a netflix ap, I can watch netflix movies on my phone
urban spoon- that's for when you know you want to go out for dinner but don't know where you want to go.

Words with friends (scrabble), weather bug, groupon, facebook, dictionary.
I am annoyed by TomTom but paid a fee to have this give me oral directions when I am driving...if I had to do it again, I would try "Navigon" (GPS type software with one time fee).
