My hubby and I are thinking of taking our 5 year old to Myrtle Beach for Memorial Day. We would like to stay at a nice family friendly resort on the ocean. I have checked out Tripadvisor and hotels.com and am confused on where to stay. I would love your opinion on where to stay and what places to avoid. We would love to have a place with kids activities and maybe a water slide.

Try North Myrtle Beach, it is quieter and more family-friendly since Memorial Day weekend is Black Biker weekend in Myrtle Beach.
Ocean Creek Resort in North Myrtle Beach is a really nice, family oriented resort. Tons of stuff to do within blocks yet it's a private, woodsy setting....check it out at: www.oceancreek.com

Sea Mist Resort has packages that include amusement parks and water parks.
We have a condo in MB- but I know that some of the waterfront area is a little sketchy, especially when kids are out of school-- like high school and college age kids looking for a "good time". Make sure you read all the user reviews! There are mini golf places on every corner it seems... but I only recall one water slide place. Have fun- its a fun town!
