I am wanting to find a new obgyn. I'm not that thrilled about the dr office that I go to now. I love the dr but hate the office. Any suggestions would be great! Also. we are starting to plan baby #2 very soon so which hospitals do I need to be looking @ in the Salt Lake area? Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

I love my doctor, Dr. Ronald Larkin who works for Cottownwood OB, his office is at the new Intermountain Hospital. Although my experience at the hosptial wasn't the best they have improved a lot! (I delivered 2 days after they opened - very unorganized).

I'd stay away from SL Regional. I did some rotations there when I was getting on of my EMT's and the nurses just didn't care about their patients. It was just the ER that I was in- but I'm not going there as a patient for anything.

St. Marks and The U are my two personal favourites. It really depends on what your insurance covers. I've gone to see Dr. Gordon Park who can deliver at both and he's great!

Hello Emily,

I have Dr. Susie Rose- she is out of hte Unviersity System and really like her. I also just delivered at the U hospital in January and would reccomend it.

Does your insurance have a preference on hospitals? (for example, my insurance will only cover IHC hospitals) I think financially it's wise to stay in your preferred network. That said, I've heard great things about St. Marks and I just had a family member deliver at the new IHC in Murray. There were some complications and they just raved about the quality of doctors and care there.

Personally, I've delivered at Jordan Valley (part of the Mountain Star hospital network and saw Dr. Kimberly Moreland at South Valley Womens Center and loved her) and I thought the staff and facilities were nice but the food was lousy. I also delivered at Alta View (part of IHC hospitals and saw Dr Kathryn Walker) and also thought the staff was nice. I wasn't in the LDR suite long so I can't really say if it was comfortable or not, but the post-partum room was very nice and the food was good for hospital food. Both doctors offices were at the hospitals which was nice.

I've had family deliver at LDS and SL Regional and both didn't care for the hospital or the rooms (but that was several years ago and I don't know if they've done upgrades or remodels).

I hope you find someone who you like and can deliver at the hospital you want.
