iPhone Screen Replacement

Dropped it and have lovely spiderweb cracks. Any recommendations on where to get it repaired? I've seen booths in the mall, but I don't want to get scammed.

Not due to upgrade till next year - sigh!

Thanks!

ADD: Don't think I have the service plan. Got the 3S for $.99 cents - didn't think about the "real" value

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone. Are the mall places "while you wait" or is that only at Apple?

Yes, $99 is the going rate for a screen replacement (at mall kiosk or Apple). It is "while you wait," but we usually just go to nearby stores for the 20-30 minutes it could take. I've only had my back glass replaced and I think the guy at the Apple store felt bad for me--he did it for free (it would've been $29)!! We do the Ghost Armor protection at the mall kiosk and they do a great job. It takes about 20 minutes and we've never had a problem. If you're concerned about the kiosks, just go to Apple (if you have one nearby) and have them do it. Will probably take longer... You can always ask the kiosk workers for a copy of their policy--and don't leave the booth while they're working on it (if you're THAT concerned).

I purchased a replacement screen for mine on Amazon for $15. You have to install it yourself, but I have a handy husband.

We had a broken screen, but would only entrust it to Apple to repair it. 20 min and $99 at the Apple store and it is good as new.

Just to check--you don't have a service plan on it, do you?

I'm with you on my android. I'm nervous to hand my phone to someone in the mall. My SS says he got his work phone repaired at one of those booths. I'll be watching this thread for my own purposes! For now, I'm dealing with the half a broken screen. Stupid phone.

ETA: So that's what the Ghost Armor thing is! I saw a booth being set up but nothing was in it at the time, so I thought it was just funny - haha, an empty booth for ghosts. Might check them out.

The repair places are legit in the malls. And some store front places that also do computer repair will replace the screens on iPhones.
My brother-in-law bought a kit that comes with the tools and stuff. In his close family there are no less than 10 iPhones, so now he just orders the glass and does it himself.

Glad you asked this. I have the same problem with mine. We are taking it to a place in Annapolis, MD hopefully soon to get it fixed for $100. My husband knows the name of the place.

We have insrance, but the insurance is $170! Ugh....I'd rather just fix the screen.

My hubby dropped his new 4s and it was cracked. The ATT store where we do business (Allen/Fairview VIllage) suggested a repair palce just around the corner from theo ATT store (x cellular repair of somethng like that, I don't recall the name.... it was down a few stores from MooYah burgers).

Anyhow... it was $99 to repair and you can't tell it ever had a repair. I think they gauranteed it as well.

Keep an eye out for Groupon...they have been running deals about every 4-6 weeks I'll see a Groupon for a repair place they usually are $39. I know this doesn't help you immediately, but if you procrastinate (like i do) then maybe you'll see one soon.

I've been to Dr Smartphone in McKinney twice.
I defin recommend ! They replaced my cracked
Screen the first time and it was cheaper than
What other people have told me they paid.
I also took it in for blank screen issues. He
Thought I needed LCD replaced for $69 but
It turned out a loose wire inside and he only
Charged me $25 ! Plus if it goes blank again he
Will apply that to the fee. I really trust them
Because he was do honest with me. Google it,
His name is Oscar
