The company scams a lot of their sales people and it's considered by many to be a pyramid scheme. I can't speak to the efficacy of the product, but I won't use it because I won't support their business practices. I would also research the ingredients and side effects before taking it, as they are known to be rather serious. In a nutshell, you couldn't pay me to take it.

I haven't taken herbalife myself, but if a product promises weightloss without changing the way your eating habits, chances are you will gain all the weight back when you stop taking the drug.

It's been my experience that the best way to lose weight is to focus on portion control, eating healthy and excercising. If you don't change your habits, what's the point?

Also, just because something is herbal or all natural doesn't mean it's safe. Things like herbalife aren't always regulated by the FDA, and they aren't safe. Be careful.

I haven't used it - I think there are better alternatives out there that support immune system health and cellular strength, a good prevention against disease. They did have a problem years ago with an ingredient that was proven to be harmful, but the company has had other endorsements of their business practices from objective sources.

However, I think it's dangerous for some people to throw around the words "pyramid schemes" - pyramids are completely illegal, and it's practically impossible to have a true pyramid when you have a real product involved. People pay money, buy a product, and receive it. That is NOT a pyramid. Any company that trades on the stock exchange (Dow Jones, NASDAQ, any of them) is absolutely NOT a pyramid - only one of the 50 State Attorneys General can prevent that from happening. There ARE people who do not understand network marketing and think it's somehow terrible or dishonest, even though corporate America has much more of a "pyramid" structure with people at the bottom getting no money and executives getting it all (think WalMart). So just because a company uses direct sales doesn't mean it's unethical - quite the contrary.

I think you need to figure out if there are stimulants of any kind in their products, and research alternatives that do not contain them. Does Herbalife use clinical studies, for example, and nutrition/food science in manufacturing their products? Do they manufacture them themselves or do they outsource to other places (or even other countries)? What precautions are in place to guarantee purity and quality of ingredients? Those are legitimate questions for any supplement company.

I have never used the product but I have never heard anything good about it. The stories I heard said the reason why it worked so well for weight loss is because the product is basically a diuretic and laxative. So you lose weight because the product makes you pee and poo a lot. But this is really bad for your body.

If you want to try a diet that works go to Weight Watchers.

To lose weight you need to change your lifestyle. Eat right, exercise, and just be active in general. "DIETS" don't work, not in the long-term anyway.

I had really good luck with it about 10 years ago, but then they changed the recipe when one of the ingredients was banned by the gov't. The new formula didn't seem to work as well and I quit losing the weight. So, I honestly don't know how it is now, but it did work then it didn't. Let us know if you decide to try it.

Two of my brothers and a friend have used Herbalife to successfully lose weight. When they stopped taking the supplements they gained it all back. I suggest that if you use Herbalife you have to know that it's not a quick fix. You have to maintain the healthy life style you used while taking Herbalife to maintain the lost weight.

It's been years and years, but a friend was selling it so I gave it a try. I believe it must have been some sort of diuretic. I didn't lose weight and I felt pretty rotten!

The company seems to be run on a pyramid-type scheme, and the product evaluations seem to show little difference from other weight-loss schemes.

You might do better consulting your doctor and taking his or her advice.

Ditto what Diane B. said.

Also, what has worked for me are products from Melaleuca. Melaleuca is a wellness company and they offer 100% money back guarantee on all of their products. If you'd like to do an online wellness webcast, send a message to my inbox. Perhaps a trial of their products would be a good idea for you. I've been a customer for 9 years so I can say they are of good quality for me. But that's me. You may want to do a trial with them and see how it works for you. With the money back guarantee, you won't loose anything.

I tried it many, many years ago. It made me very sick. I stopped taking the products and went back to my normal healthy self in a few days. Nothing beats a nutritious diet and a varied exercise program when it comes to losing weight the right way.

I used it 12 or so years ago when I was at my all time heaviest (218lbs). I had just divorced my ex and started dating Ben and Jerry, Jack Daniels, Johnny...it was bad.

My aunt and uncle sold it so I decided to give it a go. I lost 92 pounds on it. I got down to my post baby weight! I was so happy.

With that being said, that was 12 years ago. I've heard that they changed the formula and everything about it, so I don't know what it's like today.
