Has Anyone Used a Body Cleanse Treatment?

I was looking at a Vita Cost magazine and am intrigued by all of the body cleanse pills and packets. Most say they remove all the toxins from your body, naturally, and they generally come in a pill or packet form and require a two week process. There are a ton out there, so I am hoping some of you have tried one that you can recommend. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I would never trust something like that and it appears many others agree. Our bodies were created to "cleanse" itself so we are responible of getting the best fuel (food) to allow it to do what it was designed to do. Fiber is a key element. I use the Reliv products and they have been poven to be effective. The Fiberstore product is probably the best in the world - it is patented food product with soluable and insoluable fiber. I no longer suffer with hemorrhoids and I credit this product.

my husband and i are both taking a 14 day total body cleanse right now. i have also read that it is good to do (and the guy at gnc said he does it once a year) you don't really notice a difference though. your bowels do become a little more frequent and there is a change in texture and smell (gross i know) but we just thought it would be a good idea to do. i purchased mine at cvs. it's cvs brand and i think it was $15. there was a lot more to choose from but most of them were 7 day and double the price. i would do it if i were you. you've got nothing to lose. i was a little worried that it would have a laxitive effect so i stayed home the first day i took it but it wasn't like that at all. good luck!

Hi R.,

I tried a colon cleanse and I ended up with a UTI! I vowed never to do it again...I like my colon just the way it is. Just drink more water! That helps everything.

Best Regards,

I don't have personal experience, but I do work in an industry where many competitors make claims they can't back up scientifically.

I'd request scientific data from the company before you spend any money. There have been a lot of products in recent years that claim the same (or similar) things and have come and gone. I'd also check the Federal Trade Commission to see if any action has been taken against any of those companies.

MDs are generally in opposition of more holistic types of treatments, so I don't know if that's the best route to take, but I do think it's worth checking into the validity that the body has toxins that need to be gotten rid of. Usually, that's the role of the liver to filter and eliminate such toxins.

Good luck.

I have thought about this as well, and researched at length, and have found no information that states these things have proven results. Media is hyping the detoxify your body issues these days. Body wraps and all. Even the local spas say that body wraps are more hype than anything. Not that any of it will hurt a thing, but don't feed into they hype. You know they are not going to advertise with people who felt no results. I think as others have stated, modify the diet, rid yourself the intake of pesticides by going organic, or partially at least, and drink lots of water to flush the system.

I would not spend money on any "pill or packet" that is advertised in a magazine.

Ask your doctor if it's worth doing. You'll find that she says no, there is no science behind it, just a bunch of quacks trying to get your money.

If you want to be healthy, eat lots of fruits and vegetables, and exercise more, and get plenty of sleep.

Sorry, but I really do not believe that a body cleanse treatment is worth your time or money.

Hi R..
I have and yes there are a ton out there.
I actually use one from Herbalife-- gentle, tabs you take for 21 days.
If you'd like me to send you a powerpoint presentation about it-- email me at ____@____.com
Ours is around $30?- I do discount for momsource
I'm on call and will get to sending it as soon as I have a quiet moment around cases and kids-- does that happen?- HA.
Anyway.
They do work!! Some are more harsh than others and I recommend doing it at a minimum every 6 mo. Most people do 3-4 times a year to rid of toxins and chemical in foods.

Have a great day

I've never used one of those new pre-packaged "cleansing" products, but I have done many liquid fasts. You can get a lot of good information from the book Survival into the 21st Century: Planetary Healers Manual by Viktoras Kulvinskas. I think that taking chlorophyll, plenty of water, and decent organic green tea will help you cleanse, but the safest thing to do is not put toxins in your body in the first place. That is most economical. Check with the expert at your closest food co-op. Chances are, in your town there is a chiropractor who can tell you a lot about cleansing. We go to a chiropractor once in a while with the kids so they can discuss vitamins, it is most educational.

I have used and would suggest Tiao He Cleanse, that is distributed by Nature's Sunshine. Their products are great and I was never into natural products until using some of Nature's Sunshines items. You can go to their website for more information.

i talked to my dr.bout this=he said he doesnt reccomend it-simply because it strips all the good bacteria out of your system-leaving you prone to many illnesses-which i found out the hard way-i tried the acai berry pills...totally messed up my system-got extremly sick an had to be put on all kinds of medications to rebuild my immune system.so i would talk to your dr.bout this.they only reccomend doing this if your having surgery.

I would talk to your doctor first. Eating a high fiber diet does the same thing these ads are promising you, only it's healthier. Just be careful with whatever you put into your body. Good luck

I don't have any advice but I did buy one I was going to start this weekend. Now after reading the first post and the link, maybe I'll just toss it. I too was intrigued and thought it would be a great way to jump-start my diet after the holidays but I'm not sure if it's worth it. I don't really give much credit to the FDA and other government agencies but it does make sense that our colons are effecient and we would only be messing with them if we did this. It's so hard to know who to trust. Good luck with this decision, I'll be chatting with hubby about this tonight. Agh...
