I just wondered how moms feel about colon cleansing. For those that have done it, did you use a bought product or a recipe to make your own? What are all of the benefits and downfalls? I was just kinda looking into this but wanted to get the real deal from other mamas. Sure can't believe what these sites all say. After all, they are wanting to sell a product. Please share your experiences and product/recipe info with me. Thanks mamas, Shannon

HI, Shannon. In January, I did a month long 7-system cleanser called Smart Start. I did it because I was always tired and my food allergies were off the charts. Not only did I feel more energetic, but I felt more alert, patient and could eat some of the foods I was allergic to in moderation. It definitely made a difference in my overall well-being and daily health. I was instructed to do it twice a year and you better believe that I'll be doing it again come July! Goodluck!

I think if you eat the right foods, you do not need to do the cleansing. Eat Fiber One cereal and it will do the trick! I am pretty sure I heard Dr. Oz on Oprah say colon cleansing isn't necessary.

There are MANY options out there. The simplest one, and very effective, I might add, is to drink 1 quart of distilled water with 2 teaspoons of sea salt. You MUST and I repeat MUST stay near a bathroom for the next 60-90 minutes.

I do this 3-4 times a year. The majority of your immune system is in the intestines. It's not a "full cleanse" in other words, not at the cellular level, but it DOES do a cleanse of the intestines.

EASY, inexpensive and it works! Normally, it takes 50-60 minutes for me. HOWEVER....last time I did it, I hopped on the treadmill and within 30 minutes I was off to the bathroom. Running obviously expedited the process, which I thought it might.

Colon cleansing is a good way to remove toxins from your body as well as flush out the "food stuff" that stays behind. A lot of the food Americans eat can actually stick to the inside of our bodies because it is stripped of the nutrients needed to help the body process it. I have always used an all natural detox tea, which can be picked up at most major grocery stores these days. You want to be careful not to use something that will be too harsh and keep you in the bathroom all day. The best thing to do is go to a natural food store ask the staff. If there is not one near you do research on www.wholefoods.com. There are a lot of products out there that can be harmful.

I am a big fan of cleansing the whole body and have done the Master Cleanse several times. It works awesome, you feel great and you lose weight! And, its all about the program, not trying to sell any magic potions or anything. You can read up on it here: http://therawfoodsite.com/mastercleanse.htm (note:its also known as the lemonade diet)

My first cleanse I did for 20 days and lost 22 lbs. When I went back to solid food I only gained 10 back and have kept the other 12 off for over a year! My energy was way up there during the cleanse. I felt great! The biggest hurdle to overcome is the HABIT of eating. If you can stay strong mentally, you can have a very successful cleanse.

Good Luck!

I was always scared to try a colon cleanse as I have 3 kids (5,4 and 2) and can't be in the bathroom all the time! LOL
Well I found a natural and safe one and LOVE IT!! I had some issues with only going once every like 4 days.. ok sorry but had to share to have understanding! LOL Some cleanse will make you go all the time it is more of a laxitive. I found one that isn't. Arbonne's Colon Cleanse is a safe and effective one. I go like once a day now and like clock work! lol I have an article on this one some where I will find it! If you want it then I can email it to you here is my email ____@____.com but it gets rid of the bad bacteria in your colon but keeps the good bacteria your body needs! Arbonne also has a more in depth full body cleanse drink which you do for 7 days.. this I have heard you go more with as you are cleaning your whole body of toxins. As well they also have a great detox tea that helps the kidneys, liver and gallbladder. Very important too!
Oh I have ingredient list on the products too. here is the site www.passion4more.myarbonne.com (ps there are lot of specials every month too) It is a pill I take one every night almost. I do forget here and there.. if I forget to many days though I feel it! I take 2 if I have missed a couple days and feel it or if I know I ate a lot of crap! LOL like at a fair! I have used arbonne's product for 17 yrs and even my dr has told me she thinks they are great and has started on some stuff.
Let me know if you have more questions on it you can email me! Hope that helps.

Shannon, I have heard really good things on TV but have been scared to try them. My husband works with a guy who had excellent results from them. However, I am friends with a lady who assists with colonoscopies and she said it turns your colon black. The Dr.s she works with advise against them. Good luck! J.(Mom of 3)

i did one a few months back. it was awesome! i felt so much healthier, my skin cleared up, and i lost 10 pounds too! i used one from the health food store, you take two capsules first thing in the morning and two first thing before bed, for 30 days. one thing-my cycle was longer that month (freaked out thinking i was pregnant!! my period was 8 days late!) and i'm not sure if that was related to the cleanse or not... anyway i thought it was great.

Well, I'm no doctor, but I would advise against it. The bacteria that help keep your digestive tract healthy would all be washed away. (These are the "probiotics" that are in some yogurt and help keep you "regular".) From what I've read and heard from friends and family, it's best to avoid enemas unless you are *very* constipated.

Hi Shannon, Not sure about all of the colon cleansing stuff (have heard good and bad on it;) however, I found a company 5 years ago that's product uses insoluable AND soluable fiber. Insoluable cleanses the intestines, colon, all of that, but the soluable also cleanses out the brain, lymphatic system, liver, brain, blood, etc.
I've found this to be awesome in many ways (and it's completely safe and natural/whole food.)

I've more recently become involved with the company so that I can work from home and still help people with their health and finances (since I have 2 young kids that I'm blessed to be a SAHM for) so please dont' hesitate to message me if you'd like me to share more with you.
Blessings with whatever you end up doing!

Hey Shannon! I just did a 7 day colon cleanse and feel fantastic. The program I am on, I will do the 7 day cleanse every month for 1 year, then seasonally(4x/year).
I'm using a concentrate that you add to water. It taste like watered down prune juice-not too bad. It's from a company called Arbonne which has all botanically based products. Let me know if you want more info. I live in the Canton South area, I have 2 beautiful boys-ages 11 & 9, and have been married for almost 15 years.
Enjoy your day!
