My friends live in CA, and I'm in DC. We need suggestions for a good weekend getaway destination somewhere centrally located to all of us. We'd like to go in July or Aug, if weather is a consideration. We like to relax, get nice massages, eat good food. I'll be 5-6 mos pregnant, so we can't do anything too wild, and I don't want to be on a plane for more than 3 hours. Any ideas?
this may sound odd, but how about the upper peninsula of michigan, or on the Michigan shoreline? I'm not that familiar with the center of the country, but I did go there for a wedding and it was truly beautiful.
What do you like to do? City or country. Plays and fancy dinners or hiking and boating?

These are much closer to them, but I would suggest Vegas or Arizona. Great hotels, spas, food. And I'm pretty sure you can get a direct flight from DC. I bet if you go out of BWI you can fly Southwest for pretty cheap.
If you truly want to meet in the "middle" of the country you could check out Memphis or Nashville. I went to Memphis for work and we had plenty of fun in the evenings! Of course, you'd have to be into music :)
Chicago would be fun. Good restaurants and shopping and even some shows. or you could do the mountains. something like breckenridge or vail. they all have spas you could get massages at. breckenridge is a very cute little town. great shops and restaurants.
