I don't remember a lot of music in the house growing up. :(
But I do remember my older brother's music.
I lean to either classic rock (70's 80's) and alternative.
My husband likes Oldies (ugh).

My son, 8, told me he doesn't care for the "new chizz" and he prefers classic rock & alternative (odd, eh? LOL).

He likes almost everything pre 1990's. :) No Bieber, GaGa, etc. Thanks the lord!

I have repeatedly warned him about Dad's poor musical taste, as evidenced by his extensive "Greatest Hits" collection of everyone!

No - If I have to sing Old McDonald or Twinkle Twinkle one more time!!! haha.. just kidding.

My mom and I share common interests in music and my kids listen to whatever I have on in the car (they are still young).

My husband and I have very different likes in music. We usually drive with no music while together b/c we do not care for eachothers tastes.

I like some of my parents music, ZZ Top, CCR, The Eagles, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Janis Joplin, and others.
But I also like a lot music they can't stand.

Right now my daughter likes a lot of what I and my husband like, but some stuff she doesn't. I fully expect her to grow her own taste before too long :)

Hubby and I have VERY similar musical tastes. It's VERY eclectic, LOL Marilyn Manson, NIN, Cradle of Filth, Lady Gaga, Eminem, Sisters of Mercy, Skinny Puppy, Seraphim Shock, Nirvana, Pantera, Depeche Mode....

Like I said, eclectic :)
Daughter likes a song or more from most of the above, but she really loves music she can dance around to, so there are times we fight about listening to ANOTHER Lady Gaga song when I want to hear something less "poppish".
:)

NO! My son listens to rap and I simply don't get it. Sort of like the way my parents didn't understand my music. I do, however, have the same taste in music as my mother. One of our greatest joys is playing cribbage while singing along with Marty Robbins. Marty who? LOL...I'm telling my age now.

We are family who loves all genres of music. We range from classical, counrty, hip hop, alternative. Currently My daughter loves Phoenix (Listomania) and my son (a boy after my won heart) will get down with me to Beastie Boys!

But we love Talor Swift as well as classic rock. We choose by our moods!
I would say that we are this way because I have a dad who listens to country, a dad who listens to classic rock, and mom into disco, R&B, Disco, another mom who listens to it all. A husband who played the viola and loves classical music. We are always listening to something new.

I will say I don't care for Gaga, I don't care for the Bieber, and I don't respect their outrageous antics.

I still love some good 80's music. My DD will beg for me to turn up Bonnie Tyler. I hear in the back seat "Tuuuuuuuurn around, bright eyes!" LOL! It's fantastic. My mom is more of a country fan than I am.. I don't mind some country but I don't love modern country. My Dad is closer to me on music. In fact, a lot of my favorite songs are ones he used to play when I was a kid. :)

Kid or no kid I hate the current music and throw Gaga in there too.

The 4.5 year old currently loves music from movies and "Phineas and Ferb." He can belt out just about any song from the show. I still can't believe I bought a 47 second song for 99 cents but hearing him sing "Backyard Beach" is literally priceless!

He'll "allow" me my 80s music and often requests "Uncle Rick and his guitar" meaning Rick Springfield. :)

LOVE that kid!

My parents and I have a lot of music tastes in common. My LOVE for Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac came from them and their fab collection of 8 track tapes! Gotta love the 70s!

Well I usually only listen to christian music which my 4 and 10 year love, but my 10 y/o also loves Justin Beiber, Michael Jackson, and some other band that I hate. So, yeah, kind of... a little bit.

I do not have the same as my parents , but my daughter loves Classic Rock and so do I.I listen to just about everything , so there isn't a real big chance they will like something I don't. Son likes movie scores, especially John Williams , Hans Zimmer.

Course since we control the radio we dictate what is played in the car and the house. So there's not much chance for them to get hooked on something we don't like.

Haha! No and NO! ;)
Though my children do enjoy some of the same music we like...they are still pretty little...they don't get a choice.
And I don't hate all the music my parents like...after all, my parents introduced me to Simon and Garfunkel, The Beatles, and others that I can't think of right now.
But they sing in a church choir now and they are getting older-and both show in their current music choices.

My kids like Ke$ha, Justin bieber and my middle guy is obsessed with with the hard core Political rock band Rise Against.

My dad and I have like ears when it comes to music.

He taught me at a very early age to respect the classics.

Music is our sanity sometimes here. we all love turning on something and just rockin out. Whether it is something new...Or one from the past...We just love gettin' down with our bad selfs:)

Some yes some no. All of us like quite a variety, so of course some of what we like is the same stuff. My husband is a real music aficionado and has fairly eclectic tastes, so it is no surprise to me that our kids like a great deal of what he likes. But our son, 13, also likes some harder rock as well. But that is pretty typical for a boy of his age---that rebellious sounding music, lol.

I do not have the same tastes as my parents. But they are not really music people so it is hard to say with any certainty. They have borrowed many of my husband's CD's over the years (for their drive down or back home from visiting--it's 5 hours)... and some they have not wanted to return, some they didn't care for.

Yes and yes...

My daughter loves pretty much everything. Her current requests are Grateful Dead, Mumford & Sons, and Dinosaur Jr. I grew up with the Dead, Tom Petty, Pixies, etc. That's where my passions have stayed and so far hers are leaning that way as well. Although we do enjoy old hip hop like Digable Planets, Tribe Called Quest, and Beastie Boys as well.

Sort of, and sort of :)

I like just about everything. Not everything IN every genre, but every genre. My son is less eclectic in his tastes, as are my parents, but I DO like nearly everything they all like (both my son and my parents).

LOL... we're currently listening to MineCraft Songs'. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fR7EAdPUqvQ , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPJUBQd-PNM

and my son is humming Carmina Burana; O Fortuna http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GD3VsesSBsw

Earlier it was country, techno, swing, and new punk

Yes and Yes. I grew up with music, all types of music. My fathers record collection is breath taking and huge. I grew up listening to pretty much everything! I had my kids stuff that I listened too but it was never exclusive that I listen to that.
My husband and I met in a record store..we have just as an extensive and eclectic collection of music and the kids love it all. We don't make them only listen to "kids" music, they have it but it's not exclusive. They listen to anything and everything.

My 5 year old loves "Phineas and Ferb" songs too, he loves them. My 11 year old and 13 year olds love to listen to rap and all the songs that are "in" right now. My 14 year old is the same way a bit. But my 16 year old is a real country girl, which she did take from me! She still listen's to all that rap and all, but loves Jason Alden, and Eric Church haha (shes gets that from her dad!) I think our whole family likes to listen to some country to music, we do live on a farm!

I definitely have similar taste to my mom. As for my daughter, she enjoys SOME of the same stuff I do (mostly the same stuff that overlaps for my mom and I), but some of my FAVORITE stuff is not child-appropriate (Ben Folds). Oh well. :)

Yes, but he's only 5. I'm not sure it counts since I have been responsible for most of his music exposure.

Some of my musical tastes overlap with my dad's (such as the Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith), but my mom, well, she thinks music is a not a spectator sport. She likes to hear herself sing and it's usually sappy stuff such as Wind beneath my wings. Not my thing really...

I just love the song "rolling in the deep" that was big a few months ago. I'd turn it up when it came on in the car. One day, my 4 year old started "singing" it - it took me a few minutes to recognize as he was making up his own words, but I nearly spit out my drink when I realized he was singing it! LOL :)
