Did You Watch Oprah Today?

I remember when Oprah wasn't cool and she was the butt of every late night talk show hosts jokes.
Boy, she sure showed them.
Me and hubby cried today during one of her farewell shows.
I'm not Oprah obsessed or anything, I'll watch her show if the topic sounds interesting, but she sure has
touched the world in a big way.
I wouldnt be shocked if Oprah decided to get into politics in the next few years.
She and Ellen have a lot of influence on society in general.

So What Happened?

Oprah has funded many things for those who would never have a chance in life. I hope she keeps up the good works that her fame and money has given her the power to do. Sorry some of you are not all that familiar with her work. Like I said before I'm not a worshiper of Oprah but she is a celebrity that gives back and many people do respect her for that.

Not an oprah obsessed person, more like a person who has the time to watch it. I am saddened it ended. she has brought up a lot of taboo issues on the table. as for politics, I hope she doesn't. she can do good things in other ways. politics is not one of them. same goes for donald t.

Ya know, I actually can not stand her.
Yes I've been caught into watching her show once in a while, but only when the topic is super interesting.
I grew up in Chicago. I had the, unfortunate, opportunity to meet her a few times. Every time I was ever around her, she was a total B$%#&H to her assistants and others around her.
Yes she has done some things that can be considered great, but she seems so fake and full of herself.
Everyone I've ever known to have worked with or for her has told me horror stories about her elitist, horrid attitude.
No Oprah for me :)

I'm an Oprah Junkie, it's not about her to me at all. It's about getting educated and I feel that she is sometimes annoying but that doesn't change the fact that those shows have taught me soooo much! I wish I could have been old enough to watch all her past seasons. Because of that show my mom was aware of skin cancer and was diagnosed right away after watching. The topics are very inspiring. But like Oprah says, she couldn't do it without her team. It's the people behind the scenes that have made that show what it is. I will definitely have to watch that one, I DVR it daily. I think it sad that my generation won't have her around to watch :(

No. God help us, if she gets involved in politics!! I don't care a bit if other people like her, I just...I find her annoying. I simply can't understand all the fawning, personally. (Not saying you are, I just mean in general!)

Wow...really surprised at all the negative comments here....a site for women by women....shame on you! Oprah may not be a "saint", but you cannot deny all the good she has done in this country as well as others, all the people she has helped and united. I have watched her from the beginning when I was an impressionable 18 year old girl. I am now 43 and while I didn't always agree with Oprah or take her word as "gospel", I learned a lot about the lives of others and how to open your mind and your heart. Hate all you want, there are definitely more Oprah lovers than haters, and I, for one, will definitely feel a void when 4 pm rolls around!
Love ya Oprah and I wouldn't wish politics on her, she is too smart to get involved in that black hole!

Wow, so many haters on here!! I dont watch Oprah, but when I have, or Ive heard/ read about her life, I think she is an amazing survivor, who has a true desire to help, ease suffering of others & profound generousity. She is very "real", and CARES about people & does what she can to help many.
She has climbed many mountains & overcome many hurdles to get to where she is today. She's an inspiration to many..

Oh, I missed it Grandma T....I wonder if I can catch it still?

I too have enjoyed her bold open heartedness all these years. She changed talk shows forever.

I know there will people who respond with a negative tone, but IMHO, she has opened up dialogues about previously taboo and closed topics, specifically all kinds of abuses: domestic, sexual, physical, verbal, bullying...

She has shed light on this world that's for sure!! And all with her profound ability to turn her "Pain into Power."

She is a true visionary in a world full of pain and affliction.

I have respect for what she's done but because my mother is such a nut about her she's become tainted for me. She follows what Oprah says like it's a religion and of course, because I don't follow the teaching of Oprah, I get criticized and mailed books and random pamphlets so I can better inform myself whenever my mother becomes made aware of something via Oprah and I'm hounded until I respond as fervently as she did to these revelations.

No Oprah for me thank you! I'm chock full of my own opinions and couldn't take another bite.

All powerful women are labeled as bitches by someone somewhere. No one can please everyone all the time. Oprah has a strong vision and purpose that her positive messages are heard and received by the world. Perhaps she is less concerned at times with her employees feelings and personal opinions and more focused on the big picture. She strted out as everywoman we could relate to her. Then she became uber rich. I too have been annoyed at times when she makes reference to her wealth and riches her shoes etc. But then I remember she is human and she is entitled to enjoy the fruits of her labor and I think we are all a little jealous. I give her a lot of credit, I have mad respect for the woman. The world needs more people like her, especially in her field of media, television, journalism. I would vote for her if she ran for anything.

Hi Grandma,

I was thinking the same thing. I remember there was a time that men in particular, just hated Oprah. They said that she was making women hate men!! Imagine. She let them think that while she walked all the way to the bank counting her billions. I have my DVR set to tape her everyday and would watch her depending on the topic. What am I going to do now? I will miss her.

I'm not a fan of Oprah whatsoever.

I don't understand why people are sending her 'good bye' messages and crying rivers of tears. People - she's not dying!

She's been on nearly every single cover of her O magazine for the past 10 years! This narcissist isn't going away anytime soon!

And MommyCakes from Akron is right on the money about her being so self-centered!

And, for the record - Oprah RARELY pays a dime for any of the stuff she gives away. All she has to do is strong-arm *cough GM* companies into donating the stuff. I, too, know many people who work for her and what you see on TV and in the public about how great she treats her employees is a lot for show; she can actually be quite demanding and abusive but of course you don't see that because it would tarnish her image. And her season premier show this year that she shot in downtown Chicago? Forget about it! She wanted to put all the people who wanted to come to the show on boats in the river. The city said sure, you can do that but you will have to provide lifeguards and coast guard necessary to ensure safety. She was baffled and appalled that she would have to foot the (rather expensive) bill, and basically threw a fit because things didn't go her way and someone actually said "NO" to the almighty Oprah!

I got a glimpse of that show, because someone else was watching it......
I thought wow, she gets way to much attention, there are tons of people outthere, who do just as much as she does, are more important than she is,
and don't flash us with their jimmy choo shoes everyday....
sorry it kind of annoyed me..............................
you can't talk about Katrina one day and the other brag about your private plane etc.....but she did have a good show...and I was entertained at times and educated....

I didn't watch it. Was it her final episode? I know it's nearing.
Never fear.........she has her own network and channel.
It's actually called OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network). I get it on channel 53 in my area. She has lots of "behind the scenes" stuff for her regular airings.
She has said with her show wrapping up that she hasn't had as much time to invest in her network as she'd like and that will change once her other show is done. I actually put it on that channel quite a bit because at least for now, they don't have a million infomercials which I can't stand during my bouts with insomnia.
Oprah's not close to being gone, that's for sure.

Oprah is great in many many ways. You don't have to be an ignorant fanatic to be a normal fan. People who hate her and claim she is the embodiment of everything evil and self centered are being over dramatic, haven't been paying attention over the years, and have issues. The CEO of any corporation-especially men-will have hoards for ex employees telling true horror stories. She wouldn't be where she is by pleasing everyone. It can't be any worse working for her than working at Wal Mart or anywhere else you're going to have an evil supervisor.

Nope, can't stand her! I used to enjoy her shows until she started acting fake all of the time and her shows most of the time are nonsense topics-sorta like Dr. Phil has become.

Also, her quiting her show has gone on and on and on, she's a little self absorbed imo. Who else would have a magazine where every month the same person is on the cover?!
