I think that if I don't want to see naked people on TV then I will not watch "NAKED and afraid" on Discovery.
I have the power to change the channel.

I don't get the hang up about nudity personally.
What bugs me is there is *Yet Another* reality show...about anything. I am so sick and tired of reality shows. Don't care what the topic is.
But as far as the nudity, don't care. Isn't getting the shock out of me it's aiming to get.

Edit: Wouldn't care if my kids saw it or not either. They view nudity the same way I do.

I really could care less. It would be marginally different if it was a major network but Discovery? If you have Discovery you have at least a hundred stations. Not like you have to watch it,

You can call Discovery Channel. You can complain. You can call your local news station and complain as well...call your cable or dish provider and tell them you are sickened by this....and then CHANGE THE CHANNEL...

What about what has happened with Paula Dean? Bill Mahr and Joan Rivers can call people "sluts", "whores" and "c**ts" and get applauded...Paula Dean admits to using a negative word (The "N" word) how many decades ago and gets fired from her job....what about the gansta rappers that use the word DAILY??!?!?! And no back-lash...**THAT** hypocrisy is saddening...

Meh it's nudity. If you don't like it don't watch it. There's no need to try and police what is put out there for the masses. People can choose whether or not to watch it and it's up to adults to manage what they allow their children to view. No sense in getting all riled up about something trivial such as what is on television, when there's much more meaningful things in the world to actually start a cause over and get angry about. Put your anger towards doing something to help end hunger in your neighborhood or something equally as concerning.

Wait, people can be naked? They have boobies and what not? Thanks for the warning, I of course don't want my children to learn this.

Did you know, once upon a time the Learning Channel and Discovery channels were actually government funded for science and -gasp - Learning? They had great programming too. But, we don't like big government so they were sold off and now we have Naked and Afraid and Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.

Use your free market abilities - don't watch. It is all about what the market will bear.

This is absolutely one of the last things I would frame in the context of "OMG what has The world come to..."

Maybe you need to check out what's going on out there because a cable show featuring naked people (with blurred p****** p****) trying to survive weeks in the wild is not exactly something to get freaked out about. You do know you can just turn it off or not PAY for the channel?

Eh, couldn't care less. I find nothing shameful about the human body.

This isn't even on my radar and I really couldn't care. There is so much more available at 10:20 pm tonight (had to look it up). Do you remember the first season of Survivor when Richard Hatch took it off the entire season? I just don't care and I'm just not shocked.

Change the station if you are not interested, you are not contractually obligated to watch every pixilated p****** p***.

I was deeply offended! How dare they acknowledge that people have p****** p****!!!! Don't they realize that CHILDREN watch that channel?!?!? They could realize that they too have p****** p****!!! The world could just end if the children find out that other people have p****** p****?!?

We watched the whole show and thankfully they kept it blurred. But I tell you this really horrifies me that it's being broadcast. I would change the channel, but my tv is broke. I'll be watching next week to and let you know if I'm still horrified.

yes, it's inappropriate for children to watch. & as an adult, we have the option/choice to change the channel. The title says it all....so I probably wouldn't have even turned it on.....not my thing. :)

Haven't had cable in years, and quite frankly, I don't miss it. As for whatever show you're talking about, I'm not surprised - I figure there's a chance of seeing just about anything on a cable station.

I'll stick with my "ME-TV" and all the old shows; at least I KNOW there won't be any nudity or foul language. And now there's a new station they're just calling "Antenna TV" that is also showing old shows and movies. So between these two stations and just getting videos from the library, I'm a pretty happy camper!!

I think some people are missing the point. Of course adults can make responsible decisions about what they will or won't watch but what about the kids with TVs in their bedrooms or playrooms. They start flipping around and find that garbage. Sure there are blocking options but why should we have to worry about it. If they are going to have nude people on their channel they should put a little more thought into their programming schedule and put it on late at night when most kids are asleep. I am not surprised, really. The quality of the Discovery Channel shows have really gone down in my opinion. There are 2 or 3 that are okay, but the rest are just junk.

Ya know, as long as all they do is run around naked, it wouldn't bother me. I'd rather have my kids watch people run around naked than watch some of the other reality shows, where kids just learn how to be really dumb and shallow.

However, if they are dumb, shallow, AND naked, well that's just too much.

When I see something I don't like on tv, I change the channel or turn it off and go do something else. It's not as though I have to watch anything I don't like or that I find inappropriate.
As for kids seeing it, my daughter knew what naked male and female bodies looked like before she started kindergarten. Being naked in my house wasn't a big deal.

ETA: When she was growing up, my daughter and I had very different tastes in tv. I didn't watch Barney with her, and she didn't watch West Wing with me. Nothing says that you and your kids have to watch the same shows.

My 6yo son saw the commercial as we were watching a different show. He just asked why their butts were blurry in the commercial. He didn't giggle or make any kind of nude comments. He thought something was wrong with our tv, which would have upset him more than naked people. lol We aren't nudists or anything, but we just don't make a big deal about nudity. We are all born that way after all.

Discovery is cable.. Just change the channel or watch videos that you approve of.

Btw, I love Paula Deen, she was not so much in trouble for the N word as she is in trouble for saying she wanted to throw Southern party with back male and female servers dressed in white jackets. She loves how They look when dressed like that. She also called some of her Black employees "monkeys" in the kitchen of her restaurant. It goes on and on...this was discovered in a lawsuit trail.. Based on her treatment of employees..

I can't imagine a survival scenario that involves being naked. I kind of prefer Man vs Wild type to Survivor. It doesn't bother me that they are naked, aside from the fact that it doesn't make sense, so it is gratuitous nuditidy. Maybe they explain what the point of being naked is. I do not think anyone is having sex on the show, and my kids know what people look like naked, so I would not be concerned about them seeing it.

Back in the day I remember seeing pictures in National Geographic with people letting everything hang out. My parents bought me a subscription when I was a child.

Crazy. I am watching less and less TV all the time but I am aware that many kids are watching unattended. Shame on Discovery.

I saw the previews.. Although I don't care to watch it (my son who is 11 is VERY interested.......:) and thinks it's so great that these people are walking around naked... He shouts out, MAMMA!! there are going to be real naked people on t.v.. Can we watch?

What I do think is interesting is that these people aren't models picked especially for the show..

It's a cable show and while I find it to be the stupidest thing out there, it's not exactly like there aren't other options out there.

That's the good news about remote controls, one click and you are watching something you want, and not watching something you don't want.

I should add, they aren't completely naked. The major area's are covered.

I hate cable TV. We don't have cable, just local channels. Even then, some of the previews for late night shows that come on while we're watching Dancing With The Stars or So You Think You Can Dance (or whatever) are RIDICULOUSLY inappropriate. I hate that they show teasers for these shows during the shows I watch with my kids, and we usually switch over to another channel.

Personally I don't think nudity is an attractive thing.

We just found Psych a little while ago (over here it's on 10pm Sat nights and they play it back to back till 2am in the morning) and I can't figure out why it's on so late - it's a cute show with nothing objectionable about it that I can figure out.
We liked House (although some episodes were just disturbing with the mental games, hallucinating and drug use) and that was on at 8pm.
There's just no figuring out why they schedule shows to be on the air when they are.

What is it rated? We have our cable parental controls set to block anything over PG (there are different levels you can choose). So unless the kids know the code, they can't watch anything we don't want them to. Maybe you can try that. Good luck.

I'm much more concerned about all the, violence, social negativity (people being nasty to each other on reality TV), and overt sexualization (being overly sexy and promiscuous=cool) on TV these days. Having my 7-year old son see naked people in a non-sexual context doesn't bother me at all. I want him to grow up seeing the human body in all shapes and sizes as something lovely and healthy, not as "dirty".

That being said, I haven't seen the show, so can't comment directly on that.

We haven't had TV in almost 6 years. We do subscribe to Netflix (both streaming and discs), and if there's a TV show we want to watch, we can usually find it online. We don't miss it one bit!

we don't have cable so I don't know exactly what you are talking about...but my husband and I are both taken aback by what qualifies as appropriate commercials during sporting events that are on Saturdays and early evenings (Central time zone here so our kids that are 4 and nearly 6 are still up at 7, 8 pm at night). Way too much hoochie clothes, nudity, scary movie previews, and otherwise inappropriate nature. We would prefer our daughter not consider the clothing seen there as normal and would prefer our kids not get nightmares from movie previews that they would not be old enough to watch at the theater. Pretty ridiculous! And since sports are probably rated G or PG, not sure even if we had cable that any rating controls would help.

I think they'll do anything for viewers, and I'll do anything to avoid it at all costs. I don't watch any of the reality shows; I have my own reality to deal with. Makes me feel like disconnecting my cable.

I hardly ever watch that.I leave only Nick Jr,Disney Channel or teen nick.Hahaha.
