Hello,

Has anyone stayed in a kid-friendly hotel in Las Vegas? We will be going in May for my sister's wedding and I've never been there before. My daughter will be almost 4 and my son will be 16 months old and I'm nervous about staying there with little ones because I'm not sure what to expect. My sister is getting married at Cesar's Palace but that seems to be one of the priciest so we may not stay there. We are hoping to find something in the middle range for price, not too far from Cesar’s, and kid-friendly if such a place exists. Anyone have any advice or experiences you could share?

What can I do next?

Circus-Circus....but Vegas really isn't a place for kids at all. I would try to leave them at home if possible.

Hi! Before my daughter was born I was a Vegas regular, so hopefully I can offer up a little bit of help. Here's my picks on what you're looking for: If you're going to stay anywhere, you definitely want to stay on the Vegas Strip. There's four main parts to the Strip - the South Section, the Center, the North Section and Downtown (Old Vegas). South Vegas has some of the newer, fancier hotels. In the South section, I would say your most kid-friendly place (that is somewhat inexpensive) would be Excalibur. Only thing is, if you are going to be looking for a place to take the kids swimming, I don't remeber Excalibur having a pool.

Caesar's is in the Center section of the Strip. Directly across the street from Caesar's is The Flamingo. This is a relatively inexpensive hotel with decent ammenities. They have a very nice swimming pool and a nice walking area (complete with flamingos & penguins!). And being in the center of the Strip, it's within walking distance of some other great attractions (be sure to go to the Mirage & check out the dolphins & the zoo, the kids will love it!).

The North section is the not-so-great part of the Strip. The hotels are cheaper at this end, but there's a reason for it. Most of them are pretty run-down. There's a hotel at the North end called Circus Circus. It's a VERY inexpensive hotel and it is EXTREMELY kid friendly (they have an indoor amusement park, swimming pool, circus acts, all kinds of stuff!). I've stayed there once and I have no complaints about the hotel other than the fact that it is at the very end of the Strip, so it's either an expensive cab ride or a ridiculously long walk to get to anything. And if you ask me, that is not the end of town you want to be walking through (this is where you have people handing out nudie cards & the like). Not my cup of tea! Do not under any circumstance stay at the Stratosphere. Nice casino, nice hotel, but very shady neighborhood. I've seen several drug deals go on in that area!

And then you have Downtown. This is is more of the "party" atmosphere so it's probably not where you want the kids to stay. Besides, it's too far away from Caesar's if you ask me.

Personally I think your best bets are the Flamingo (or any other central hotel), or Circus Circus. I suggest checking out the Expedia website or one of those other discount places. If you book your flight & hotel together you can really get some good deals!!!

If you have any other questions, just let me know & I'll be happy to answer. Good luck with your trip and please pass along congrats to your sister on her upcoming wedding!!!

We haven't been to vegas in eight years, but we always stayed at the Flamingo. It's across the street from Caesar's (used to) be much less pricey, and has the most wonderful pool to play and swim in. Don't go to Excalibur. It used to be nice for kids (it might still have a carnival-style gameroom in the bottom) but was seriously run down the last time we were there and walked through it. New York New York has a small roller coaster and other stuff in the top part for kids, though I think those games may be a bit older than yours.

Check out the Flamingo online. It's nice and you'll REALLY like the pool. Another fun choice is Treasure Island. They have a whole pirate theme going, with pirate ships out front and all.

And good luck! Just make sure to take the tram or a bus if you go North or South of the main part of the strip (around Caesars, Mirage, Flamingo, etc.) so you miss the guys with their "picture brochures" so you don't have to explain to your daughter. : |

It's been quite a number of years since I've been to Las Vegas, but you might check out Circus Circus. I have not stayed there, but it should be pretty kid-friendly.

Have fun!

Circus Circus is great for kids. They have a huge game room, big top with circus acts and carnival games, and they also have a indoor amusement park. Check it out online, also lots of other parents and kids there.

My husband and I stayed in Excalibur a few years ago, and we really liked it. It seemed more kid oriented to me than many of the other hotels, though I don't remember there being anything strictly for kids. We didn't see the dinner show, but it sounded like fun with knights and jousting and such. It's a little ways from Caesar's at one end of the strip, so you would probably want to take a taxi or tram to get to Caesar's. Someone mentioned Treasure Island, which sounded like fun when we went there to see the pirate show. Well, the pirate ships are cool, but they turned the whole "pirate show" into a Britney Spears type concert. The "girl pirates" are scantily dressed and the boy pirates aren't dressed much more than that. They sing and dance hip-hop style, and though special effects are pretty awesome, I thought the rest of the show wasn't that great. It was definitely created to appeal to the younger crowd. You're kids might really like it, but I would just be wary of the content of the show, which seemed more for adults and nothing like "Pirates of the Caribbean". Another great free thing to do along the strip is to watch the volcano at the Mirage erupt. Also, my favorite site to stop at was the fountain show outside the Bellagio. It's pretty close to Caesar's, and the fountains are just beautiful. They "dance" to music, and at night with the lights, it's pretty breathtaking. Before we went to Vegas, we bought tickets on-line for "Mystere" at Treasure Island. It's one of the many Cirque Du Soleil shows in town, but I think it's the most kid friendly. It's been around the longest, but we still thought it was great! Have fun when you're there! It really is a fun place to be.

Circus/Circus is kid friendly, and affordable, just make sure you stay in the tower rooms. They are very nice for the money. It is quite loud in there, because there are so many children staying, and visiting the attractions. The rooms are quiet though, and it is towards the end of the strip. Hope you have a good time, and good luck to your sister!

Of the hotels on the strip, Excalibur is the most kid friendly. It has a medieval/knight theme to the entire place. The lowest level is a huge kid area. They also feature a "medieval" dinner show with knights riding horses and eating with your hands. Your 4 year old will love it. I have never stayed at any of the hotels off of the strip so I don't know about any of them. It also is not far from Caesar's. Mandaley Bay is also a nice resort. It has a pool with a beach. It isn't particularly geared toward kids, but it is very family oriented. It has an aquarium that you can walk through and I think a movie theater. It is also a more pricey hotel, but you don't get the riff raff junky gamblers either.

It's been 4 years since I was in Vegas with my small children (for a wedding also). I do not remember any casino being what I would call "kid friendly." In fact, when I would walk through a casino with my stroller I was not allowed to stop. They have designated walking paths for children and if you stop they rush over to ask you to keep moving. My advice would be to stay at a plain hotel and you may have to venture away from the strip to find one.
I did not stay at Circus Circus and it may well be friendly for kids. I hope you find something.

I think taking kids to Vegas would be difficult. Could your husband's relative watch them while you go and have a "second honeymoon" of your own? You would probably have a better time and so would your kids. They could spend a few days of having someone spoil them rotten and you could do adult things and not have to worry about shows that might show nudity. Think about it. You still have plenty of time.

I went to Las Vegas about 4 years ago and we stayed in Circus Circus. They actually had a small place inside of the hotel that the kids could play in. It had rides and everything. Don't really know what the cost was since my mother paid for it, but my cousins loved it.
