I typically am always the one who can find the good in others. Today I met my Dr for the first time. I never get sick but recently had some test results and I decided it is time for me to get a primary provider. So I met Dr Ries of Southlake family medicine. I have 2 kids 19 mo apart. One of the questions she asked me is am I on birth control “No” then she asked if I want more children I said our family is not ready to say no so we are open to the idea of more children. Then she explained that there was a high chance I could become pregnant soon. I told her I understand that yes, routine question and cover the base stuff that did not bother me….AND THEN she said…”You know most people would say you are crazy if you are ok with having 3 kids under 3.” I thought she was joking..as I don’t really know her. So I shrugged it off. Laughed and said,
“no We are just fine if he have another my son is almost 3 and my daughter is 15 months. Again serious I presume from this point on she continued : “No many people would just say that is crazy 3 kids in diapers that is crazy.” Now I just met this lady and this bothers me. I said well actually my son is potty trained and my daughter wants to be just like her brother so she uses the potty too. So the diapers are of no issue. Then again she said well that is just crazy who would want that? I have shut down at this point and I said well a lot of my friends of multiple kids who are a lot closer in age than mine.
This really bothered me. Would it you? Thinking I might continue my search for a new Dr. 

What can I do next?

I think it was incredibly unprofessional of her to have made those personal comments to you. You did not ask her opinion on the matter. She asked a routine question and you answered it. She should have moved on when you expressed you were not interested in discussing or persuing family planning.

Rude, unprofessional, and none of her business. Keep the search up for a new doc.

Well call me CRAZY!! I am doing it!! My kids are all one year apart. I am still have most of my sanity intact!! Yes for some people it can be overwhelming which might be the word she might have used! Not crazy!! And like the other post said it is none of her buisness wether you have one more child or 15! You are in good health and she is not your obgyn. She is getting paid for treating you medically not giving you her opinion about what you should and should not be doing with your life.

Ditto to the posts! I actually took my son to her when his doctor was not in that day. She did not have a good bedside manner and I vowed never to go to her AGAIN!

I agree, none of her @#$! business... Yes, find someone with a more positive attitude towards your wishes for your family. Don't know where you are, but I love my GP in Coppell. Dr. Dianna Coxsey. She is wonderful!

Continue seeing a doctor who does not have your same priorities, life view, or at least a little respect for her clients? Continue paying for a SERVICE from a woman who doesn't understand she may be high paid, but still in the service industry? Put your body and health under her power, and subject yourself to comments that have nothing to do with her job or expertise, while she is surprisingly open about her lack of respect for your life decisions? Crazy, just crazy.

Yuck. It seems like doctors nowadays are some of the most family UNfriendly people out there. I've received lots of comments too about my four kids.
