What Do You Do When You're Finished with a Kindle Book?

I have no idea how much memory this sucker has (and don't try explaining it, save yourself, LOL)... but I was just wondering what other people do...

...Once you've read a book, do you delete it? Save it? What do you do?

What can I do next?

I keep mine on there. I have folders set up by authors that I put my books into. I tend to re-read books several times so they are accessible to me that way but organized. BTW - you may know about this but I just found out about a week or so ago - check your public library out. Mine has digital books that I can "check out" with my library card. I can get them for 7, 14, or 21 days. At the end of the loan period they go off of my Kindle with a message that the loan period has ended. I can get 6 at a time. If the book is already checked out, I can put it on reserve and get an email when it is ready for me to get. Awesome ! And I don't have to pay for it !

I created a file that I move it to .. and named it competed books ! Just use the on-device help menu and it will teach you haw to do this. I wouldn't start deleting until you have a memory issue which I believe is at like 400 books.... you may want to re-read it or someone you know may want to borrow your kindle and read it.

I move it to archives. I suppose I could delete it... I mean... it will still be in my purchased list so I could always re-download it, right?

I don't have a kindle, I have the kindle app on my phone and iPad. To my knowledge, your books aren't deleted, they're archived. So if I want to re-read an archived book, I go to the bottom of my book list on my home screen and touch 'archived items'. Then I find the book I want and touch it to download it to my home screen. Although if the kindle is different, I either wasted your time or confused you more :)

Customer support for Kindle/Amazon responds pretty fast and is helpful in my experience, if you need more help.

Mine holds 5,000 books, I think that is the norm so I am not planning on deleting anything until I hit 5,000.

My Kindle Fire allows me to store the books on the "Cloud". Thus far, though, I've had great luck getting books through our Amazon Prime account and public library for free! When the "loan ends", the book "disappears".

I haven't deleted any...but I also don't have many =*(
My daughter uses it too, and she has a lot more then mine, I think when she needs more space mine will be the first ones to go, with exepcion of one.
I don't want to say the name because is not a fancy one, but it makes me laugh, I found laugh a great medicine so there for I will keep it as my happy pill here and there

They hold several thousand books.

I don't have a kindle - I have th nook - but I believe Amazon has a similar feature, that allows you to "archive" the book. In other words, you still have it, it's just saved on your Amazon account (or, in my case, bn.com account), rather than your device. I do this with stuff I'm in no hurry to reference, just to keep my "bookshelves" easier to navigate.

I have also discovered that I can access my device's memory on my computer, so I assume that I could save the books to my computer, and from there to an external drive, if I needed to. (I suspect that the kindle will allow the same - it has a USB port, right?) I don't really see the point, though. Archiving is good enough for me.

the second generation kindle (which is the newer ones), can hold about 1500 NON-illustrated books. so non-picture books ... 1500. With pictures or audio books I'd guess maybe half that. I'm not sure about the kindle fire.

Hope that helps.

i'm wondering the same thing, and it seems as if most of the responders thus far assume greater technical skills than i have<G>.
i only have a few books on it so far, but i know over time i'm going to accumulate a lot. i have bought a few and put 'em in the cloud, but what i can't figure out how to do is to move them BACK into the cloud when i'm finished with them. the one library book i borrowed (and THAT worked brilliantly, i'm happy to say!) and the one purchased book still show up in my carousel even though i hit the 'remove from carousel' thingummy.
i'd really like books i'm done with to get stored in the cloud so i don't gum up the works of the thing. i mean, it can't be unlimited, right?

Save it! You bought it, it yours. You can save it until your memory gets full or I believe you can use hook up to PC to transfer to your computer. Additionally, I believe books are saved to a memory card. Same size as some cameras. There are also some lending apps so you can share with friends I think also.

Hope this helps.
