What Are You Getting the Man in Your Life for Valentine's Day

A card and a home made cake - his birthday is on the 13th.
We have too much stuff.
So buying something just for the sake of buying something?
We're so over it!
We've known each other 38 years and been married 29 years.
We've done gifts, flowers, etc - been there, done that.
Not spending money frivolously is what we like/enjoy best at this point.

In my opinion, valentine's is more for younger people who are dating. For us old married folks (lol) it's not such a big deal anymore, ya know? We don't buy each other gifts because a date on the calendar says we have to.

I show my husband each and every day how much I love him. He does the same for me. That's good enough for us.

My fellow loves a good craft beer, so I'll get him a few bottles. He's a man of many collections and pretty choosy about what he buys for them, but I might pick up another interesting deck of playing cards for him. (We both collect cribbage boards, he's got about 200+...his supposed goal is to have a deck of cards to go with each board. I'm never going to run out of this option!)

We do low-key for Valentines. :)

Probably a card filled with gooey sentiment.
Together time once the kids are in bed.
That's about it!
I don't usually do much....even for my kids! They get a card telling them how much we love them and a small heart chocolate.
Meh.

Thanks for the reminder! I need to order him a Bigfoot. It's sort of an ongoing joke how when we are out hiking and/or camping we are always "looking" for him. And he likes those Finding Bigfoot shows on TV. My mom came across a statue for the yard of Bigfoot so I'm going to order it for hubby. I wish I could afford the "lifesize" version but it's almost $3,000. LOL So the smaller one for $130 will have to do. =0)

My husband buys himself whatever he wants or needs and so do I. We really don't get into these Hallmark holidays but we do think it's fun to have good sex that day and any given day.😉

I always get his a couple of chocolate bars with almonds because they are his favorites. We're not really big into Valentine's Day. I'll get something for the grandkids because I love them.

We don't get anything for each other. We're working on 22 years of marriage and were together several years before that. We do little things for each other all year round. We buy the things we need as we need them and buy extras now and again when we feel like it. I personally am not into the whole calendar telling me about made up holidays I'm supposed to make a big deal about. I don't need a made up day to gush over to tell my husband I love him. He already knows. I don't need it from him either.

A reservation (NOT for that night, for a couple weeks out) at a hard to get into restaurant (good gift for a "foodie"). Tickets to a wine tasting event. DVDs of a show we enjoy. And, of course, "gifts" that would get a post reported!! :-)

Toys. More specifically, a few expansion accessories for a game he enjoys. :-)

Since we have the children it really has morphed into the kids love & chocolate day but I do try to bring the effort with a special homemade dinner, something that's his favorite or exciting & new. It's the effort & love that really shines through. But my man is easy it really is about keeping him fed & ...

He usually gets our daughter a special little trinket and I get a mushy love card, it's like the only time I get them & the only time he does something extra for the daughter & not the sons, the cards are always on point for our life and I know he takes his time reading thru to find the perfect one b/c the first time I got one from him he told me how long it took to find the right one!
Its really quite sweet.

A card and maybe something little. He needs new socks; maybe I'll give him socks for Valentine's Day! LOL. It's not a big holiday for us.

My husband gives me tulips, chocolates which I share - we usually split a nice bottle of wine.

I've never given him an actual gift on Valentines. Card at most.

In the past I have done: sporting event tickets, a new jacket, a little something for camping, lotter tickets, his favorite beer.
I usually always make dinner. We used to go out to dinner before the kids until one year when it was just such a long wait for the table, food & difficult service due to the amount of people dining (not the servers fault) and we decided not to do it again.
Think of your mate and get him what he enjoys most: food, snacks, tv time, his favorite beer etc. and sit down to watch tv with I'm.

I'll make a nice dinner with all of his favorites for all of us to enjoy at home (filet mignon or tri-tip), get him his favorite beer, buy a nice dessert, let him have the tv all night. That's about it. We don't exchange gifts anymore. We'd rather spend our money on other things.

Tyler and I don't do "Hallmark Holidays". When we were younger? Yes. But now? After 25 years of marriage? We don't take just one day to show each other our love. I know it sounds corny, but we realized that it takes more than one day to keep the love alive.

We might sit down and have a glass of wine, but otherwise? We don't do gifts.
