Hi, did anybody deliver their babies at the West Boca Medical Center? I delievered my first baby at the Boca Community hospital and loved it there. However, we recently moved to West Boca and West Boca Medical Center is much closer to my home. I'm expecting my second child and it's due at the end of the year. I am deciding which hospital to go to, so any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What can I do next?

I had my last two children at West Boca and the care could not have been better. The staff was pleasant and wonderful and when my youngest had a GI problem at birth and went into NICU, they treated us like we were real people. Can't say enough about how great our experience was.

Hi P.,

I too delivered Baby #1 at Boca Community, and Baby #2
(16 months later) at West Boca.

Honestly, i liked Boca Community a little better, the rooms were nicer and they cleaned and warmed the baby right in the room. However, West Boca was a bit better in that it is all on the 1st floor (easier for visitors) and they have the Best Neo-natal unit (just in case).

There wasn't THAT much of a difference, and to be honest i was out of there 23 and a half hours after delivery...i had just done this and i was comfortable taking my baby home.

Have you taken the tour yet?

Best of Luck!!!!

Hi,

My 1st son was delivered at Boca Community and my daughter was born at West Boca. It is a great hospital. I lived in broward county but chose to drive all the way to Boca. West Boca, as long as I can remember have always had great review. I babysat a little girl long before I had children of my own and she was severely premature and the hospital was well equipped to handle it. They supposedly have the best NICU around. I have known several people who made that hospital their choice to give birth. All my sisters from Broward county chose that hospital as well and they loved it. Take a tour, I'm sure things have changed and been upgraded but the quality you will get have not changed.

Hi P.,
I delivered my 3 yr old boy at the west boca and my 1 1/2 at the Boca Community so I tried both.
I have to say I liked better the West Boca.
Nurses were lovely and came much faster when I needed them than in the BC.
The food is great and you have a menu to order and you can even order food for your husband if he is there with you (you have to pay it separate but prices were very accesible and you forget about the hassle of having him go out to buy food every time).
The anestesiologist I had (I delivered both my kids vaginally with epidural) was much better at WB, the anestesia faded right after I delivered and could walk to the bathroom really soon.
At BC my anestesia lasted from early in the morning till around 7:00 PM so I couldn't walk until the night. I just didn't felt my legs.
Plus if you need something last minute for the baby, BRU is right accross the street.
One more thing, the NICU is more advanced (I guess it was level 1) at WB than in BC. I wanted the best place in case my baby had any problems.
I did deliver my second at the BC just because my DR had so many cesareans at the BC that we was not able to go to WB, otherwise I would have loved having DD there.
Hope this helps,
G.

I have delivered 6 babies at WBMC. I have 4 of my own and I delivered surrogate twin girls there. I don't have anything to compare it to. I did receive wonderful treatment there. They were a bit overly cautious with my last baby, who's 5 months old. But I guess, better safe then sorry.
If you enjoyed Boca Community though, drive the extra 5 minutes east and get what you enjoy.

I would recommend staying at Boca Community. I have had bad experiences at West Boca, it is a great hospital for a medical birth, and they have a higher level NICU but if you are having a normal birth and plan to Breastfeed then Boca Community is the best choice! It really depends on what kind of birth you are looking for, also at West Boca they seperate mom and baby after the first hour, for at least 2 hours (I have seen as long as 4 hours) and Boca Community does not seperate mom and baby unless you have a C-Section. Good Luck!

Hi P.,

I delivered my daughter at West Boca Medical Center 4 years ago and had a great experience with the staff. I will be delivering my 2nd daughter there tomorrow and hope to have as good an experience. Good luck with your 2nd delivery where ever you end up having him/her.

I am a first time mom and delivered via c-sect at WB. I had a great experience. The nurses were awesome and I have nothing but good things to say about the whole experience. One other thing to think about between the 2 hospitals is that WB has a NICU and Boca does not. It is nice peace of mind knowing it is there. Hope this helps and good luck.

Loved, loved, loved West Boca! The nurses were fantastic and it was an overall fantastic experience for me. P., I think no matter what hospital you choose, you are going to hear both good and bad since everyone has different expectations and experiences.

Good luck! You are going to have your hands full in a few months.
