My 5 year old son and 3 year old granddaughter love their Leap Pads. You can buy games and download some. My 2 year old grandson is waiting for his for Christmas since he fights with his sister and uncle to play theirs.

I can't help on the answer. I am looking at the same thing. My kids keep telling me they want a Nintendo DS or a Kindle Fire (ages 4 and 6). I am thinking of skipping the 1st level and going straight to the kindle.

The innotab seems more durable than a fire, but the games are horribly priced in the store (Walmart 25/game). I haven't seen the Leap Pad one, but have heard they are good too.

My three year old daughter has the leap pad and loves it. I dislike vtech gaming products. In the past we have purchased them and they have broken within a couple of months. My daughter has had the leap pad for almost a year now and it is still in great condition and still works. The only downfall for the leap pad is that it goes through batteries so if you go this route I would get the leap pad 2 because you can buy a rechargerable battery pack for it. I love being able to download games, books, movies, and music on for a good price. Hope this helps. If you have any other questions just ask.
