HI Ladies
Mercy I am soooo not with it when it comes to electronics...so I apologize if this question comes of strange. but please hear me out. My 3 year old LOVES to play with her uncles Ipod touch. He has lots of kid memory games that she is really good at. she loves the touch screen. so that got me thinking that I should get her AND myself an Ipod touch. I would put all of hers and my music on it and games for her (i dont play games so I wouldnt care about that part) THEN I thought "Oh that is crazy...what kind of parent am I for buying me 3 year old an Ipod touch"...right. so i started looking into touch screen kid electronics. They look fine however for the COST of the game (like $100) and then each game is like $20..I might as well buy the ipod touch for the same cost and then I can load my music on it. The reason for me thinking of buying her this gift is because I feel its better than her watching TV (like she is right now) on Saturday mornings. In the morning we hang out and play. I have flash cards, coloring etc, but she is always asking for the TV. I dont mind TV but I do mind her watching it for more than 2 hours per day. I am more of an advocate of getting outside to play...but the mornings is too dark or too cold.
So what do you think ladies? Am I crazy? any pros or cons to the leapfrog, Vtech or Ipod? I am open to hearing other options as well because i am clueless when it comes to buying electronics
Thanks ladies

So What Happened?

Thanks Ladies...always great advice. I also talked to my neighbor. She and her hubby are (as they call themselves) "computer Geeks". I asked her opinion and she said the IPOD Touch. I was at best buy yesturday and held the LeapPad in my hands and saw the demo..seemed pretty basic, seemed fine but because of the cost of the games, I have a hard time justifying the cost vs getting a bunch of free apps from the Ipod.(or games for .99) I would be SICK if I bought a $20 game for my 3 year old to play with for 5 mins and then want Daddys Ipod Touch (I bought him one for xmas)...so I decided to buy her and Ipod Touch as well. I only bought the 8G (and daddy the 32G)
I feel good about it too. I got a nice rubber holder so hopefully it will withstand the torture she will put it to. I also plan on her only having 'supervised' play..otherwise i am sure she will attempt to put it in the tub with her.
Thanks ladies..Happy Halloween

We just got our 4 year old the leap pad, she loves it!! It is just like a Ipad. She downloads apps, books, and games. Our 2 year old also loves to play with it. We wanted to get a DS but since we have a 2 year old also we thought we would start with this then pass it down to younger sisters when our 4 year old grows out of it. All great products. I am not up on electronics but my husband is so and thought this was the best one to purchase. :-)

IMO the Ipod Touch is a better deal. My daughter (4) has a DS & iXL game system. Its really hard for me to justify paying minimum of $20 for a game that she will be tired of playing in a matter of weeks. My mom, who lives out of state, is very generous with my daughter. She bought our family an Ipad2 a couple of months ago. She doesnt want to play anything else ever, not even the Wii, which was once an everyday thing. There are many educational games on there and many good ones that are even free. Many are only .99!!
Again just my opinion :)

My husband and I both have iPhones and our two year old LOVES playing games on them. Especially on long car rides.

She also has a vtech e reader, which we love but it is kind of limited and I would rather download free apps than buy more games for it. :)

Both my girls (2 & 4) have iPod touches. Great for in the car and at restaurants. There are a lot of great apps. Games and stories for them,Lu's they love being able too listen to their music on it. My husband and I both have iPads and they love playing on those as well (supervised of course)

My girls both have a LeapPad, and I still have all the books and cartridges, which my son will soon get. They've lasted forever, no complaints!

HA my son LOVES the iPad too!
My MIL has one and every time she is in town my son says "G'ama, can I color on your iPad?"

I actually saw a commercial for the Vtech InnoTab and have been meaning to check it out. I thought it would be a great thing for my 3 y/o.
I just know I have to do some research first.
