Sometimes dogs stink because of poor nutrition. Usually our little chihuahua has a shiny silky coat and doesn't smell, sometimes he has had hot spots, a dry brittle coat, is scratching and STINKS. We use Dinovite nutritional supplement. http://www.dinovite.com/

I use ProCare professional dog shampoo...it works great. Plus, it's safe...not toxins/chemicals or fumes. In fact, everything I use is safe for my family, children, pets and environment. Smells good too!!

Good luck!

Baby shampoo works great, if you must bathe him/her often. Be careful with heavy perfumes, they will irritate their little nose and make your puppy hate to take a bath. Also, they don't really work, just cover the odor. What I have learned, and I come from a long line of dog owners/lovers, is that some breeds are just stinky. My mom has a yorkie, that has a better life than some humans I know, that gets professionally groomed once a week and that dog still stinks. My little sister has a dachsund, same thing, stinker. We have a chihuahua/miniature pincher mix and she always smells good, and we never bathe her, same with our boxer. Still bathe the puppy, but that may just be his/her scent. Hope this helps.

Baby shampoo works great! Is it possible that the puppy has ear mites. I had a puppy that would stink no matter what I would do and come to find out he had a very bad ear infection that caused him to stink BAD!!!

There is a groomer's cologne that you can buy at Petsmart or any similar store next to the shampoo and conditioner. You don't want to wash too much - it can actually make them smell worse because their skin is trying to counteract the dryness.

We just got a new puppy and he is a little stinky as well. It doesn't help that it has been raining and everytime he goes outside he gets nice and wet :). My husband is a Vet. so he brought us home Relief and Hylat cream rinse by DVM pharmaceuticals (probably have to get this at your Vets office. He also brought me Furminator waterless shampoo and condition for inbetween bathing. It smells great and keeps you from having to bath your little puppy as often.

just use a gentle oatmeal and aloe shampoe. You canuse more frequently and it has healing properites from that can aid in bad skin. I use it in place antibiotics when he gets staph and yeast infections( I have dog with chronic skin issues, we have virtually cleared up his skin with porer nutrician omega supplements(fish oil) and frequent bathing.
