I absolutely think resolve works best...the spot remover, not the "high traffic" carpet clean. Use the kind that comes in a spray bottle, not the can.

Spray on a liberal amount, let it set for 10 minutes, then take a damp rag (wet, then wring it out) and scrub, scrub, scrub. I have gotten out countless old and set in stains this way. If it only comes out partially, let it dry, and repeat the whole process.

That does a better job that the carpet cleaners I have hired to clean my carpets.

Have you looked into Genesis 950? Use it in a steamer if you have one. Best carpet cleaner EVER. You can read reviews on their store - www.genesis950.com

I have found that Spot Shot works pretty well followed by my Bissell steam cleaner using the "pet stain" cleaning solution. It seems to work on kid stains too. But if the stains are old or set in then it takes several tries and doesn't always work (as the pomegranate juice stain in my bedroom proves). You could also try Fels Naptha. That stuff works wonders.

I use my Hoover Steam Vac with the Bissell brand cleaner and hot water and it seems to take out my "leopard spots" from juice, water, milk, shoes and some black stuff that looks like grease but it's not and comes right up when I shampoo the carpets. I do only have apple or white grape juice and I don't let them drink red/grape drinks in my living room. Everyone says my carpets look good and they are pretty old and warn.

before you can get the stains out you need a really good vaccuum to get out all of the dirt, sand etc. we have a Kirby and we really love it!!! we had issues with stains that kept coming back after we would shampoo, no matter what kind of cleaners we used. after we bought our kirby and really got the carpet clean, got more than just the surface dust dirt etc out it made a HUGE difference. our carpet looked newer after just a couple of weeks. we used the shampooer that comes with the kirby and we got out stains that had been there for years. not trying to sell you anything, i dont work for the company or anything, just giving my opinion on what we have and use and what works for us!!!!!!
I will say though, that pretty much anything with a red dye in it will not come out, no matter what you have/use/try etc. I would just suggest getting a really really good vaccuum first and then try to get the stains out. I dont suggest shampooers that get the carpet soaking wet. as it dries the moisture just creates mold and other issues/stains. good luck.

I use a mixture of Basic H, Basic G and Nature Bright from Shaklee. Stains come out easily and its nontoxic.
