I love Biokleen's Carpet and Rug Shampoo. Not only does it work really well, but it is safe for the envirnonment, children and pets. I also love Bac Out by Biokleen for removing stains as it works really well on pet stains, poopy diapers and clothes and blood stains.

I bought a spray from Target at the recommendation of another mom. It's called Folex, in a white bottle. It works wonders! It doesn't stink and is easy to use.

Awesome! Really... that's the name of it. You buy it at the Dollar Tree. We found out from a friend who has rentals. I've converted all my friends and family who's tried it.

Depends on what it is...
But I learned from a carpet cleaner.. if you spill red juice or liquid on the carpet, (like a slurpee) to poor a bunch of salt on the spot and let it dry as its drying it is absorbing the mess. Once dry sometimes next day depending on when the spill happened vacuum it up and more than likely it will be gone...its amazing. Don't rub it or pat it, that is just smooshing it into the fibers more....
I hope this help with some stains.

Hi K.S.
I absolutely love Greased Lightening which you can find at Home Depot and sometimes Target. I used it when house-training our puppy-dog and it's great for getting cat barf out of carpets! No matter where I use it it has never stained!
May God keep you and your family safe.

We bought a carpet cleaner :) Wheee....Who ever thought we'd get excited about this sort of thing??? I mean, really?

It's the bissell ProHeat etc etc steam cleaner, it's quieter then our vacuum, super easy to use, and has become a "why didn't we do this years ago?" thing for us. It was around $200, but the same model runs up to $350 depending on where you buy...so if you do get one or one like it, shop around!

www.bissell.com/Products/c/uprightdeepcleaner/p/9500/prod...

It's so easy to use we don't really spot clean much anymore (it takes 2 min to set up and use and gets 99% of whatever it runs into), but when we did we used KIDS'n'PETS on organic stains, laundry detergent on dirt/grime, and then either alcohol (gin) or oil (olive) depending on the make-up of what was ground in (for ex...pine sap gets olive oil, paint got gin...if we weren't sure if it was alcohol soluble or oil soluble -and hadn't come out with water so we knew it wasn't h2o soluble- we tried both).

From the girl who likes to be able to lay stretched out, and roll around with the kids on the carpet,

YES!! I know of a wonderful home-made stain remover that will remove any stain, including cat urine and wine. The best thing about it is that it literally costs pennies to make. The recipe is below, and I've been sharing this with many people recently, and everyone is amazed. Hope this helps.
Solution for pet stains and urine odors, or any protein stains, as well as any regular grease or wine stains.

Mix 16 oz. of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide
2 Teaspoons of Baking Soda
2 drops of liquid dish detergent

Stir for 30 seconds and put in your carpet cleaning
machine, instead of carpet cleaner solution.

Put on your carpet fairly wet, and let dry naturally.
for old stains and odor, or for heavy build up of urine
in carpet, you may have to clean carpet twice (one week
apart). This works equally well with cat urine as it does
with dog urine, and at a fraction of the cost of carpet cleaner.

Note: Do not store this mixture in closed container, as it could burst
From the oxygenation action of the Hydrogen Peroxide and Baking
soda. However, it is totally safe to use right away, and safe on all
carpeting.

DO NOT mix with carpet cleaner or any other cleaning solution. Only use
the three ingredients listed above in the carpet cleaning machine.
I like to put it into a spray bottle, and pre-spot with it.

Folex! It's been sitting on the supermarket shelf in the same plain packaging since your grandmother's time, which is probably why you've always ignored it. I just discovered it a few weeks ago - fantastic stuff. Took a cranberry juice stain right out of our beige carpet!

(You can also use it on laundry. My young son is wiping his own bottom now, but doesn't always do the most thorough job. I assumed those few pairs of nice new underwear were ruined, but I tried the Folex on them just for the hell of it, and it removed the stains from the underwear too!)

KS,

We use the Complete brand pet odor/stain remover from Target. We have a cat that has found all the corners of the previous animals. This stuff is great, spray it on (nice citrus smell), let sit for 15 minutes, mop up with a towel.

Another thing we just started using is the Arm and Hammer carpet powder stuff. Again, sprinkle on carpet, let sit 15 minutes then vacuum everything up.

Hope this helps,
Melissa

Motsenbocker's makes several formulas that target different types of stains, and so far it's worked for us. They make formulas for permanent ink, and all the typical messes (paint, wine, etc.). It's at Fred Meyer, and I think Lowes.

I vote... Nature's Miracle! It is an enzyme cleaner and so it works on all organic type substances. (Found out about this when a stray cat got in our house thruough the cat door and sprayed the walls and carpet of our TV room. Nothing worse than cat spray.)
Safe to use around kids and pets and does not have a chemical smell. You can buy it in gallon jugs at pet stores. (Petco in our area)
Happy cleaning!

Stain out works wonderfully. I about cried when I wore red shoes, got caught in a rainstorm and took them off and stepped on my brand new cream carpet. I didn't know the shoes had dyed my feet and I left red footprints. The stain out got rid of the stain. It took out acrylic paint, juice, wine, and ketchup. I got it at a carpet cleaning store.

I spot clean stains with Oxi Clean. It's the same powder I use in the washing machine as an all fabric bleach. You mix a very small amount with warm water in a squeeze bottle. Apply to the stain, and work it in with a hard rubber scraper or the back of a comb. Blot after 1-2 minutes with a clean rag. It works on nearly everything, and doesn't leave a residue. You just need to mix up a fresh bottle each time, because the oxygenation effect only lasts for about 4-8 hours.

Hi KS,

I just want to go in w/all the Mamas who said Folex!! :o) It will take out almost ANYthing(and what it won't take out, it will significantly lighten so you will have to look hard for the stain), doesn't stink to high heaven, hasn't changed formulas, scents, or anything else like that in the many years I've been using it, and is easy to find(I get it at either Wal Mart or Target).

Best of luck on fighting those would be stains! :o)

I use Kids n Pets, but my husband taught me a trick that works well if the spill is still wet. Heap salt on the wet spot and let it absorb the liquid several hours or overnight then vacuum up the salt. My daughter peed on our couch and we did this, it worked great. He learned this from his mom when he was growing up and his dog peed on their carpet.

YEAH! I got this Scunci Organic Fabric Stain Remover at Big Lots. I wasn't exxpecting much from it, but so far it's removed blood, juice from a spilled bowl of blended up blueberries, raspberries and strawberries, M&M candy coating and more from my carpet. It's amazing stuff, and organic, which is a plus. Oh yeah, it also took out this bright pink antibiotic from my baby's sleeper that I thought would forever be stained. The medicine bottle said, "Will stain clothes!" so I thought for sure it wouldn't come out, but it came out on the first try. Good stuff.

mix white vinegar 1/2 and 1/2 with water and put it in a spray bottle. Spray it on the stain, wait a few minutes and then blot. It will smell like vinegar but then will have no smell when it dries. This works really well on most stains. It does not leave a sticky residue like some commercial cleaners do that attract dirt and then the spot reappears a few weeks later. Also, it is all natural and non toxic
