Seeking the Perfect Birth control...low Dose Pill?

I really liked the Nuva Ring. I have been thinking I might get back on it. It is a ring that you leave in all month long until it is time for your period. So, it's good if you are prone to forget to take your pill.

The only reason I stopped was because I wanted to try Yaz. It's for big PMSrs, which I am. PMS makes me want to cry over everything. But, I have now not had a regular period for about 5 months.

I was not a fan of IUD because I am so sensitive to progesterone. When I was nursing and on Progesterone only pills it was like constant PMS.

In my opinion, you should check out the Nuva ring in addition to other pills.

I also liked only having my period every three months on the Seasonale, mostly because I have menstrual migraines. My OBGYN told me I could take ANY pill that way, just skip the period pills in the first 2 pkgs. You may find a pill that fits your needs and take it this way, it worked for me. I'm now off the pill, 40 and risk of blood clots, so I don't recall which pill it was I took that way (was on Walmart's $4 list). The Seasonale was costing me well over $100, that's why I switched from it.

Ortho-Tri-Cyclen-Lo is a low dose (estrogen) pill. I used to take Seasonale also for less periods, but my doctor told me you can really take any pill the same way- just ask for a 16-month supply, rather than one year (4-month supply at a time, rather than 3)- since you will need to start a new pack of actives rather than stop after 21 days. That will leave you with 4 periods a year. You just have to keep track of your pills a little better, since you won't be following it month to month. Good luck!

I know you said you're scared of an IUD, but I actually loved mine! I had no side effects at all, and I didn't even have a period while I had it. I've also heard some bad experiences, but as with every medication or birth control, it won't be "perfect" for every person. Most everyone I've talked to that has had it loves it. It was so nice not to worry about taking a pill each day! BTW, I speak past tense b/c I had it removed last Nov. to try for baby #2 (who's due in Nov.!).

Nordette worked well for me and it was low dose. I wasn't able to take the higher dose pills, as they were too high in estrogen and made me very sick.
