Seeking Solution for Custom Bookshelves

I am looking for bookshelves to fit into an awkward spot and need an affordable solution! My hubby is an avid book reader, and his books are overtaking my home office! I would like custom bookshelves for a short, wide spot and am looking for your ideas on where to find them. I've tried Ikea and a few other places, but most of those are TALL and wide. Any ideas? The area I'm wanting to cover is 40" high x 105" wide.

Or do you know a general contractor/handyman that would be reasonable? Thanks!

What can I do next?

Neal's Unfinished Furniture custom-built an entertainment center for us. The price was a bit more than other units we had seen, but we were able to choose all of the details that we wanted, including size and finish. Perhaps they, or another unfinished furniture store, could do the same for your bookshelves.

We had custom bookshelves made through the store "Furniture in the Raw." They are beautiful and fit perfectly. They will finish them to your preference. Price was very reasonable!

Hi A.,

My neighbor seems to have a bookcase-building business. I can investigate and get his contact info for you if you'd like.

Hello!
If you can't find what you're looking for at a retail place, my husband owns Ritter Renovations and also builds custom furniture for clients. He has experience building all types of built-ins for folks in situations just like yours. He's built mantles, entertainment centers, bookcases, outdoor furniture, etc. His # is 512/762-9313.

Hope this helps,
Jen

Hi A., I see you have already gotten seeral responses but thought I would throw my wonderful husband in the ring anyway. He has a shop in our home and has done custom work for many years. He has a photo portfolio of his projects and has done work for at least half of the neighbors in our culdesac and they would all vouch for him. I'm sure he would love to discuss the project with you and show you his portfolio. Let me know through this site and I will get you two hooked up in email. Good luck! R.
