What are some nice furniture stores in Houston? I'm looking for a desk, but one made of solid wood rather than pressed wood and veneers.

They have a clearance outlet in the store on I-45.
They also have a clearance section in the one on I-10.(the clearance outlet store on I-45 is all clearance while the one on I-10 ,the clearance part of the store is an area on the 2nd floor in the back of the store.)

there is a furniture place called mexico viejo off yale in the heights. they can make anything you want for a great price. you can take a picture and the size you want and the stain or color and they build it in about 3 weeks. they have made several things for us. we love them. 1430 yale st. houston tx,77008 ###-###-#### they will deliver it too!
If you want something that is guaranteed to be real solid wood and not have any particle board there is a place called Neal's Unfinished furniture which they can stain with whatever color you want unless you have a handyman husband that can do the staining himself. We bought our entertainment center for our living room and son's room and our curio cabinet. They have some nice pieces to choose from. Another place that would be good is The Dump. if nothing else, check the used office furniture warehouses. they have older solid wood desks and bookshelves. prices are negotiable.

I shop at High Fashion Home - downtown, Louisianna and Elgin. There you will find high end furniture (a bit pricey) and more fabric than you have ever seen. Love it. Hope this helps!

Ethan Allen has always been my favorite furniture store. We have had some items for 23 years and some for as long as 44 years and they are still in perfect working condition-even after daily use from an array of children (my siblings and my own children)!
