I now use a "Family Doctor" for myself and my 7 month old daughter. I am not happy with him at all. I would prefer a female. But most importantly am looking for a wonderful doctor who is supportive of breast feeding, using an alternative immunization schedule, will provide birth control and who does not try and impose his religious beliefs on his patients! If I am not able to find a new family doctor and have to go to a different doctor then my daughter I am am willing to do that (it is just easier to go at the same time as her). Is there anyone out there who is happy with the doctor they have? Thanks for your time.

it sounds like a naturopathic dr would suit you. i just made the switch from an MD recently and let me tell you, my ND listens so much better. unfortunately my insurance doesn't cover it (tho it covers any labs she orders) so i keep my regular doctor for pap smears and tests. i see dr lori brown at the family wellness center off mcgillivray, ###-###-####.

not sure if my MD would work for you. i don't know if she does kids.

I go to Family Physicians Group in Fishers Landing, on McGillivray right behind Fred Meyers. There are several doctors here male and female that are sensitive to all of the issues you are concerned with. Myself, husband and two kids all come here. All are family practice providers with several who also provide OB services. We have seen pretty close to all of the providers here. Dr. Cynkutis-Simon is a newer physician there. She has a great personality and I just loved her when I saw her recently (my provider is out on leave right now). I also recommend Ted Chaplain. Yes he is male, but he my all time favorite physician! Their phone number is ###-###-####.

Maybe Gresham, OR is a bit far (maybe 40 min from Vancouver?) but my doctor is a naturopathic doctor and meets all the qualifications you specified: She's a lady, does family medicine, is willing to work with you on immunizations, and supports breastfeeding (she's also a midwife). As far as birth control, I would assume she could if you want, because she can prescribe medications. I have no idea what her religious beliefs are, so she certainly hasn't tried to impose them on me! And I met her 6 months ago.

Her name is Katherine Zieman, ND. Just google her name and you'll find her clinic and phone # and everything.

I love, love, love my new doctor Peter Bessas. He is a family practice MD. He is very easy going, very casual and has great bedside manner. He is the kind of doctor that understands that people aren't perfect and he isn't going to try to make you be perfect. He listens to my concerns and then helps make a plan of action I am comfortable with. I'm not sure what stand he takes on immunizations and breastfeeding though as I haven't had the need to have that conversation with him. His number is ###-###-####. Oh yeah, he is in Cascade Park just off of Millplain and 136th.
