Seeking Daycare a Few Days a Week

I'm looking for a daycare near Mesa Drive and Broadway in Mesa or near 48th Street and Broadway in Phoenix. I only need daycare two days a week so I'd like to find a place that charges by the day/hour. I also need to find a place that is open until 7PM if possible.

I don't really want to put my son in daycare. My husband can adjust his schedule to watch him two days a week and my semi-retired mom will be watching him one day a week. If my employer will let me, I'd like to go back part-time and cover the remaining two days. I don't think they will accomidate me so I need a back up daycare option just in case they say no.

I'd quit altogether but my family's health insurance is through my job. My husband's employer does not offer health insurance. Before we got maried he carried private insurance and it was quite expensive.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I checked out the daycare on Country Club and decided not to use it. The people were nice enough but the facility was run-down. I also noticed that none of the children I saw were smiling. I was told that the tether ball outside was removed because the preschool and school aged children fought over it. I don't think those age groups should be sharing a playground together. In the infant room there was a child with a running nose interacting with the other babies. The school age children's room was open to the lobby and you have to walk through it to get to the infant and toddler rooms. I think that is a security problem. No one I talked to had worked there for more than 3 months.

Since my search began, my son's grandmas have been available to watch him on the day I currently need covered. When they can't watch him, Angela (responded below) will be watching him.

I did research on a few other daycare centers and put my son on a waiting list for one of them. It's called The Learning Curve. I showed my husband the better daycare centers I looked into and he agree that this place looks like the best option. They have secure webcams in their classrooms that I can monitor from work. They use biometric thumbprints to verify your idenity when checking your child in and out. The floor is covered by mats that are disinfected. They have a lower adult to child ratio. They pipe in music during nap time. 40% of their caregivers have been there for over a year which is unheard of in the childcare industry. They have very clear policies in place and provided me copies of the policies when I toured the facility. The caregivers were down on the floor playing with the children. Almost everywhere else I checked the adults were standing around talking to each other instead of interacting with the children. The children all seemed pretty happy and some of them even smiled, waved at, and greeted by name, the woman who gave me the tour. The playground equipment was nice and the facility is not located next to a busy street. The downside is that I will need to adjust my work schedule because they are only open until 6 pm. I'm so happy with what I've seen so far that I plan to place my son there for the whole week once there is an opening. My husband said he's excited for our son to be able to go there. He said he wishes he could stay there all day!

Hi... I was curious as to what days and times you would need someone to watch your child. I would like to help you in your situation as I have a daughter who I refuse to put in childcare. Currently, I have a friend of the family who watches my daughter in my home. (I live on Gilbert and Guadalupe.) Maybe we can work something out if you can get me the information I asked about. :)

My son goes to daycare on Country Club and Mckellips. They charge by the day and your son would only have to be there 2 days a week and they are open from 5:45 am to 7 pm. It's called Kiddie Kare ###-###-####. I really like and so does my son he has been going there since he was 8 months and he is now 16 months.
