Hi Moms!! I have recently gone back to work downtown and I am needing to update my look that I have had for the last 16+ years. Suffice it to say, my hairstyle is probably a little outdated. The attitude downtown is very fresh and hip, and I am looking for a salon that can offer me a "new me". Does anyone have any recommendations for a salon in downtown, uptown, or North Dallas that has great "makeover" stylists and won't cost me a second mortgage on my home? I've started working on the inside of my body, and now it's time to work on the outside!! Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!!

Hi S.!! I moved to Dallas from LA and had a toug time finding a stylist I was happy with. I'm very picky!! I go to 2 different places. One for cut and another for color. I get compliments on my hair ALL the time. ;)
A very good salon in uptown Dallas is the Blue Room Studio. It is very hip and artsy. They host many art shows at the salon as well as have awesome hairdressers. I like Michelle,Heather, and Danny.
Another good salon is Premier Salon in Highland Park..its where all the Dallas Cheerleaders go. Rainier at Premeir is the best!!
Another good salon is located in Deep Ellum..it's called Orange. It;s very posh and their "hip" hairdresser is David G. He is difficult to get in with but very worth it. He has done J Lo and Kate Hudson's hair. He is a colorist.
I really like Josef at William Carr on lemmon ave. ###-###-####
Studio 110 in Knox-henderson area is great if you want to try extensions.
Good luck!
I suggest tearing out pictures from magazines of hair you really like and then taking it for your consultation to see if it is a cut that would work with your face shape and hair texture...also take pics of hair color you like! Or you could just ask the hairdresser to "surprise" you. They LOVE that!!
If you go that "surprise me" route, I'd see Josef at William Carr or Ranier at Premier.

I have a wonderful stylist that has been doing my hair for about 5 years now. She works at Stinson Studio Salon on Greenville Ave. The salon is right next to the Blue Goose. She is FANTASTIC. She does both highlights and cutting for me. I have very think coarse hair so if she can make my hair look fabulous she can make anyone's. Good luck. Oh, she takes a few weeks to get in so make your appointment now. Her name is Tracy and her number is ###-###-####

If you want something hip and fun but not too funky try Matthew Tully Salon in Uptown. They are really good; however a cut is going to cost you around $65...a little pricey in my book.

The Hairdresser I use is in Lakewood (close to Greenville/M-Streets). He is awesome. It's at Blow Salon and his name is JP Collins. The salon is a nice pamper place as well. His prices are very comparable to many other salons in the area.

Hi S.!!

I know you asked for downtown, uptown, and North Dallas specifically, but... my recommendation is in Irving, not far from you in Carrollton. Her name is Patricia Drake and she has a salon inside Plaza Salons on O'Connor. She will make you sassy and give you a great makeover!

Here's her info if the distance isn't an issue for you. I've been seeing her for several years and at least 6 of my other girlfriends are devoted to her and have been for at least 7 years or more.

Good luck with the new you!! Tell her C. sent you, she takes referrals from her clients but doesn't typically just take new clients.
