I'm looking to switch my doctor because of the lack of time he has to spend with me and the unfreindly, unhelpful office staff. Please recommend a doctor in the lake county area.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all for your recommendations, I greatly appreciate them! I'm currently at 18 weeks; first pregnanacy. I'm really glad nobody recommended the office I am currently at in Libertyville (located inside the Condell hospital building). I plan to call a few of the offices that were recommeneded and go from there. Thanks Again!!

J.,

I switched my ob/gyn after mine completely ignored me and all of my questions / concerns. I now go to Novas, Dohr & Coll. They are located in downtown Barrington (corner of NW Highway and 59). All of the doctors are women so they understand what you are going through and what you are feeling. I have been going to them for over 6 years and absolutely love them all. Here is their contact info:

111 Lions Drive Suite 210, Barrington, IL 60010 ###-###-#### www.NovasAssociates.com

Hope this helps.

I would recommend a nurse-midwife. They tend to spend more personal time with patients and develop a better relationship. You don't mention if you are pregnant or not. Debbie Boucher is a midwife in Libertyville who does well-woman care. She also does prenatal care and homebirths. I would highly recommend giving her a call if you need well-woman care or would consider a homebirth. Otherwise you can go to www.midwife.org to look for a midwife close to you. Most midwives do deliveries in hospitals if you are looking for prenatal care.

Women report higher satisfaction with midwives for care and research shows better outcomes than with physicians. Good luck- women should be treated with respect from their health care providers.

Hi

I would recommend The OB-Gyne Associates of Lake Forest. They are located in Lake Forest and Gurnee. All doctors are excellent and caring. Plus a great hospital. I have seen all doctors there, but primarily go to Dr. Tanya Huang. www.obgynelakeforest.com ###-###-####.

Best wishes to you.

Hi J.,

I would recommend Dr. Kelley London at Westmoreland OB/GYN Associates. There are 4 doctors in this practice. Their offices are in Lake Forest and Grayslake. If you prefer a male OB/GYN, there are two in this practice, Dr. Logan and Dr. Cohan, both are very good. Their number is ###-###-####.
Good Luck! A.

Haven't seen the other posts but I can't rave enough about OB/GYNE associates of lake forest. I LOVE several of the doctors there but Heighberger is my absolute favorite. One of those you could see as your friend. She totally "gets it" and I was lucky enough to have her deliver my first child and I couldn't have had a more amazing experience!!

Dr. Hartman out of Lake Forest....I've had him through 4 preagnancies....Out of all 4 of them in 11 years, I've only had to wait more than 20 minutes like 2-3 times while he was delivering a baby upstairs....he even moved his office in the same building as delivery...very nice.....

I would recommend Dr. Heather Heiberger at Obgyne Associates of Lake Forest. They are affiliated with Lake Forest Hospital. I actually love ALL of the Doctors in their practice (they have one man and 5 women doctors should you have a preference).

I hope this was helpful.

I would have to recommend Dr. Logan or any of the doctors at Westmoreland OB/GYN. The doctors, nurses and office staff were wonderful. All of them were super nice and responded to your questions and concerns in a timely fashion. They actually had a doctor or a nurse call me with test results. I was lucky if I got a letter with results from my last OB. They are out of Lake Forest Hospital, but also have an office in Grayslake. I actually switched to that office at 20 weeks with my last pregnancy due to many terrible run ins with the office staff at OB/GYN associates of Lake Forest. No offense to the other poster who had recommended that office, but the office staff and a couple of the nurses were just very rude and uncaring. The doctors themselves were wonderful and I would agree that Dr. Heiberger was pretty great, but I could not get past the unpleasantness of the support staff. I hope this helps.

i reccommend without any reservation, dr. dianna kim and dr. sarah wong--- they are an aunt/niece team, who practice out of vernon hills. dr. wong is more business boom boom boom and dr. kim is sooo soft and sweet-- -they balance each other out perfectly. they are located right behind the babies-r-us by the mall. they deliver at advocate condell, northshore (highland park) and lake forest--- you pick. when i toured northshore (then highland park hosp.) 3 years ago, i was told that most of the maternity ward nurses use them as their dr.s and that their technical/surgical skills go unmatched. when i had my 2nd child, he was stuck, and i was given the option of forcepts or c-section. when i asked a nurse about the safety of forecepts, she told me "of all the dr.s who deliver here, it would only be your team of dr.s that i would allow to use forecepts on my baby." The nurses know every dr.'s bedside manner and delivery techniques, because they are in there with all of them.... i think their words speak very loudly. on easter, i just delivered my 3rd child with them via c-section and i have been up and walking pain-free, since they unhooked me from the iv, etc. they are also one of he few teams of dr.s who will allow you to try vbac, should you want to try--- ofcourse they take every precaution and monitor you very closely. i don't see my dr.s now until my 6 week check up, and i can honestly say, i miss them already!
