I found out last night I need to get a Pediatrician, I am due and will have my baby at Good Samaritan Hosp. in about 9 weeks. Is is customary for people to screen/interview doctors prior to having your baby when selecting a Pediatrician? Do you or did you do this? I don't even know what to ask them about if I did meet with them.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I am going to DuPage Medical Group and seeing Dr. Ibriham (Chris) and Dr. Weiss. I have been happy with them over the last year.

I see Dupage Medical Group in Good Sam North Pavillion. I primarilly see Dr Boettcher, Murphy or Froelich. They alswo have Dr Pollack, Gruzalski, and Steinken. The nursing staff is wonderful as well! I never did a doctor interview. I just used to attend the Drs office right down the hall and found their office hours and location convenient as well as a very helpful office staff. ###-###-####

Congratulations! I had my daughter at Good Sam 3 1/2 years ago and was very satisfied with the hospital. My daughter goes to the DuPage Medical Group that is right there at the hospital. The number is ###-###-####. I think that all the doctors in the office are good to see. I haven't had any problems. Good luck and enjoy your baby while he/she is a baby.

Congratulations! I have a 3 year old son and he was my first and only son. I asked my ob/gyne and some other people that I liked and trusted who their children's pediatrician was. My husband and I interviewed pediatricians (which we had to pay for)and ended up selecting our ob/gyne's suggestion. It's where he takes his little ones to as well.

In the interviewing process, my husband and I were interviewed about our health histories along with family health issues. We asked them about how they deal with sick children (is there a special time when kids that are sick can come into the office and not disturb healthy ones), hospital affiliations (we had a preference for Northwestern)and simply whether we liked the person or not.

Best of luck to you and your expanding family!

I also had my baby at Good Sam. I chose Dupage Medical Group for my daughter. Her doctor is very nice and the office is actually in Lombard. When I researched through my insurance availiable pediatriciations I found this one and one other (as well as some individuals - I wanted a Group). Good luck!

Congrats on your first born. I have two children and a third on the way. I have been VERY happy with my peditrician(s. Thedoctors were reccomended by my own OB-GYN. Dr. Mark Weiss (actually is my OB's children's doctor) and Dr. Christine Ibraham is my kids favorite Doctor. They are located across the street from Target on 22nd street in Lombard. The practice
name is Dupage Medical Group, West Suburban Pediatrics
###-###-####. I actually did not interview them. I was very comfortable with using them as my childs doctor and have not changed since. When you fill out your hospital forms for Good Sam's Hospital, just put the name Dr Mark Weiss and Dr. Christine Ibraham as your peditrician. Again, Congrats on your first.

I am a SAHM with a 5 year old Boy and a 3 year old girl and another one due in April 2007. Thanks D.

D.,
Congrats!
I wouldn't worry too much about finding a ped. just yet. Ask your friends who they like/don't like. I don't understand the urgency because at the hospital there will be pediatricians who will care for your baby. You will meet them and probably will like at least one of them. This will be a start. If it doesn't go well, you can always find someone else.
