Looking for New Pediatrician - Willow Springs, IL

Hi Moms! I'm so frustrated by the lack of knowledge that my current pediatrician seems to have about breastfeeding. Particularly about the proper way to treat thrush, identify it in me and in my baby. I'm thinking about looking for a new pediatrician. Currently I take my baby to the DuPage Medical Group in Lombard and see Dr. Diethelm. I don't have any other issues with this practice and I do like the fact that this doctor is very open to an alternate vaccine schedule for my baby. I would really appreciate any recomendations about any other doctor in the DPMG practice as well as in any other practices in the area. Thanks again!

I also go to DPMG but have been very happy with my experience with them. I see Dr. Matthews-Kukla. She is usually at the Wheaton and Glen Ellyn offices. She knows me and my kids and she has personally called me to check on my kids or offer advice. My third child was really sick his first year with RSV and he struggled with wheezing for about a year after that. She was wonderful and very attentive. She also knows that I don't want to throw antibiotics at my kids when they don't need them. She has turned me away without a prescription several times. She is very knowledgeable and doesn't take chances. I have been taking my kids to see her for 5 years now, since my oldest (twins) were born. Even though my son is 4 yr now, when he gets sick, I still travel to whatever office she is working at that day to make sure he sees her because she knows his history. I'm have been happy with most of the Dr's I have seen in the Glen Ellyn Clinic.

I also go to Dr Mark Weiss and he is very knowledgable and thorough. But for breastfeeding issues, I highly reccomend Carol Chamblin from Breast n Baby Lactation. She is fantastic and really knows her stuff. http://www.breastbabyproducts.com/carol.html
Check out her website and give her a call. She can answer all your questions and she makes house calls.

I have used DuPage Medical Group/Elmhurst Pediatrics for all three of my kids primarily seeing Dr. Seidman, although I've seen them all. My oldest is 21 and not going to them anymore, but I never felt a need to switch away from their service!

Hi A.,
Have you found your local La Leche League? When I worked in Lombard 5 years ago, it was very active. My OB was not supportive of lactation stuff, different practice though. He supported the medical model where lactation specialists were "weird". Professional, huh? I found it hard to find a group of pediatricians that supported our delayed vaccination schedule. When I found one, I stayed. Wheaton Pediatrics, ###-###-####, has been very supoortive of breastfeeding and the alternate schedule. My kids are 4 and 3. We are half way through the CDC makeup schedule and have not had any problems with the shots so far.

Good luck,

L.

Hi,
I have been sending my daughter to Dr. Christine Ibraham and she is located on 22st. In Lombard at the Dupage Medical Group West Suburban Pediatrics. I also, Have an older daughter that was seeing another Dr. But when I met Dr. Christine at Good Sam when I gave birth to my almost 1 year old, I really liked her. I now send my older daughter to her too, and she is always asking me when she is going to see her(odd for a child to ask to go to the Dr.). She is very good and knowledgeable. She will take the time and answer all questions till you understand. Highly recommend her!!! Good luck

My kids go to DuPage Pediatrics in Darien (near 75th and Cass). We primarily see Dr. Gardner. He is fabulous with the kids and has worked with me to do a delayed vax schedule. Not sure about the breastfeeding since I wasn't able to do that. there are quite a few docs in the practice, I've seen them all. I don't recommend Dr. Lynch, he has the bedside manner of a toad. I also wasn't impressed with Dr. Huang, but I know of several people who love her and have had great experiences with her. The other doctors are Dr. Davis, Dr. Hall, and Dr. Kelly. I've liked them all.

Their address is 2601 Plainfield Road in Darien. Phone number ###-###-####.

Hi A.,
I would recommend Loyola...they are fabulous! We see Dr. Veselik in Darien. We were seeing a doctor thru DuPage Medical Group (we actually saw a couple of pediatricians) and I ended up leaving there b/c they completely missed a diagnosis (one which we directly asked could it be this - they said no and it turned out weeks later, it was) and it lead to my son having to be in intensive care for 5 days - horrible experience. Loyola listens, they have wonderful specialists as well...good all around! Good luck!
