Question About Things to Do (Except for Skiing) in Colorado in the Fall

Hello! My family and I are going to vacation in Colorado Springs next summer. We will do all of the amazing things that CO has to offer, like alpine slides, white water rafting, hiking, the Cheyene (I might have mispelled that) Mountain Zoo, Pikes Peak, etc. But what about visiting Colorado in the fall? We are thinking of driving there (from Dallas) in late November, but are concerned about driving in snow, and having a lack of things to do (we would not go skiing, but would consider snow tubing). So besides snow tubing, is there anything else to do in late November in Colorado if we're not going skiing? I guess we could still go to Pikes Peak and the zoo? Or, is it not worth going in late November, and should we just wait until next summer? Thanks!

Colorado Springs is a great area - we lived there for a couple of years & enjoyed our time. You won't be skiing or snow tubing in the Springs, you'll have to drive somewhere to do that. In that area though, Manitou Springs is a great little eclectic town. It has natural springs (7 I think) that you can drink from throughout the town - the taste varies from spring to spring. Tons of neat little shops, yummy restaurants (The Loop is fantastic Mexican & my husband is from Texas so we're a bit picky about our Mexican food), and there's a short neat hike to a place called Rainbow Falls/Graffiti Falls/Painted Falls (depends who you ask) that's easy & short. Also, Helen Hunt Falls is a free hike.
Focus on the Family headquarters in there also & they have a great indoor play area with a 3 story slide & Whit's Soda Shop; it's great for colder D. when you don't want to go outside. The zoo is good & in late November they may already have their Christmas events going on. Pikes Peak is good & they run a cog train up ($) they also do a Polar Express type event but you have to buy tickets early & I think they are a bit expensive. Also, if there is too much snow/ice they will close the road up to the Peak. Walking around at the Broadmore Hotel is lovely. Glen Erie is amazing as well. Old Colorado City has an artists gallery with a museum in it that's fantastic but I can't think of the name right now.
OK, that's all I can think of right this minute but if I think of more I'll add it.

I loved touring the Olympic Training Center. With the summer Olympics coming up there will probably be a lot of activity going on.

I think you can get tours of the Naval Academy.

Garden on the Gods is beautiful any time of year. There are some nice hiking trails.

Depending on how old your kids are there is Santa's Village too. I loved it when I was a kid.

This would be more for October rather than November:

A lot of people go to the mountains to see the Aspen change. Many of the ski areas have festivities going on and you could rent a condo very cheap at the ski areas in the off season.

The amusement park, Elitches has a big Halloween set up in the fall. Also, Heritage Square amusement park in Golden does a Halloween theme in the fall.

November is pretty much winter time. Although the Springs doesn't have as much snow on the ground all winter like the mountains do. If you were going to do something around that time of year I would rather go to glenwood springs instead of Colorado springs. They have an awesome natural hot springs and great shops and restaurants. there would be the option for tubing and stuff there as well. Summer does offer a lot more options but winter is a special time of year too.
