This has nothing to do with your question, but if you want to give your husband a special treat and allow him to get as close to feeling what you feel when the baby kicks, then put your bare belly up against his bare back in the small of his back.

The small of the back is very sensitive. When my wife did that for me it was really special. She did it by accident and it was really neat.

Good luck to you and yours.

The kicks were 24/7 with our first, but he also has ADHD. I don't think he slept a bit as a fetus. No-stop action in there. He was not happy with the tight quarters. Our second child was more irregular with the kicking. She'd have bursts of energy and then clearly take a nap. I really wouldn't worry about the kicking too much, unless you go for a long, long stretch with nothing.

It can depend on your activity level. Generally the more you are up and moving, the more baby sleeps, all the swishing around makes them sleepy just like a car ride will later. If say you don't feel any kicks while laying down and drinking something with sugar doesn't do the trick, then you should call the doc to make sure things are ok, but a lot of doctors I have dealt with have gotten away from things like kick counts, because it causes mom to worry over nothing.

Each one of my three babies were all different. My first one used to make really big slow movements, it looked like I had an alien coming out of me at times but he was consistent all the way to the end. My second one, a little girl, she'd have spurts where she was really active and then really quiet and she is like that today! My third one however, she was the most quiet, even at the very end i'd go hours w/o feeling her at all but she by far, is my energizer bunny!! I thought she was going to be a quiet, sweet thing and she is LOUD and is always on the run!

The below is info from babycenter.com. You can sign up for a weekly update with all kinds of cool info about the baby's growth and development. Just put your due date in and voila. I loved getting those updates throughout my pregnancies:

Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — the length of a carrot. You may soon feel like she's practicing martial arts as her initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to her activity as you get to know her better.

So, your baby is still quite small and has room to swim around in there. When you're not feeling the movements, she's probably toward the back of your uterus. As she grows, you will feel the movements more frequently. When you get to the 3rd trimester, your practitioner will probably have you do a kick count each day.
