Does anyone have any recommendation for a very firm pillow? I have had back and neck problems since a bad car accident in high school and need a very firm pillow to support my neck. I had found a pillow that was lasting me a few monthes rather than a few weeks. Not sure if the manufacturer changed the way they are making them or what but they are very soft. Just so people understand how firm I mean my husband jokes that we should just get a peice of wood and put a little padding and it would be great...not a bad idea actually (lol).

Thanks for the help ladies.

I was going to say Tempurpedic just like Jo W said. My MIL brought one to my house to keep here for when she visits (She lives in Cali, I live inTexas). It weighs a lot, is firm, but comfortable to sleep on. I think this one is made for back and side sleepers. It's so firm that you can't even squish it up like you would a normal pillow. One side is flat to lay on the bed. The other side is contoured to fit your neck and stays that way.

The tempurpedic pillows are very firm yet comfortable. We have four for different beds. Two are over three years old and no different than the day purchased and the other two are a year old.

I know tempurpedic beds don't seem acceptionally firm but that is your whole body weight, for just your head they are firm.

I have neck problems and I use a water pillow. You can adjust the firmness by adding as much or little water that you want. I love the pillow have never slept better and have had improvement with a.m. pain.

The part of the pillow that your head goes on is fiber filled, when you flip it there is a port that you can add water to, so you really don't realize that you are sleeping on a water pillow. Everyone in my family is jelous of my pillow. I think that I am buying more next fall for X-mas presents.

I bought my husband a memory foam pillow a few years ago from Amazon and he loves it. There are also pillows that are primarily for neck support that force you to sleep on your back... some orthodontists sell them and I'm sure you can find them online as well.
