Patio Cushions - How to Store When Not Using

We bought our first patio set with cushions but not sure the best way to keep the cushions stored when we are not using them. Right now I have them in the house but bought a large deck box that is supposedly designed for cushion storage. I am still concerned they could get wet/damp and wonder what other people do. I thought about putting them into large garbage bags and then placing in the deck box. Any suggestions? I live in Minnesota so it will be a lot of taking in/out so the less complex the better.

What can I do next?

We have patio cushions, on the patio furniture, outside.
We just leave them there. On the chairs.
We use them and go outside everyday.
It would be a hassle, for me, to put them away and take them out, whenever we go outside.
Granted, our weather here is different.

But, it is patio cushions. Made to be outside.
They get wet, they dry up in the sun.
I never had a problem with them.
Ours is out 24/7, every day. All day, all night.

Ours go in the garage. However, what if you put weather stripping around the underside of the lid? Maybe that would help with keeping moisture out.

We leave them on the chairs and cover the chairs with waterproof covers made for that purpose. We stack the chairs and put one cover on all of them. We have covers for the chaise lounges too. (Look in the outdoor section of Lowe's, Home Depot, Ocean State Job Lot, etc. where they have grill covers or patio furniture.) I think the deck boxes should be fairly watertight but I think the garbage bags cause mold and mildew.

I would get those Vacuum seal bags. They are great! I use them for everything. Easy, cheap, and doesnt take up a lot of space anywhere, and it keeps out all wetness, bugs etc.

When not using your cushions I would put them in plastic bags for storage. Put some moth balls in with the bag(s) that they are contained in. This will prevent any insects as well as those other little pesky animals if you are storing them in a shed. This will keep them well preserved and when you take them out for the next year just wash them down or spray them with Lysol. This will keep them fresh even though you are puttingt them on the chairs for the summer. I would put about 5 moth balls in each bag to preserve them. Hope this helps!!
