Parenting Styles...Answering My Own Question

Argh! Meyers-Briggs never works for me. The only one that I consistently pick is the T (Thinking vs. Feeling). For the others, I'm as much an introvert as extrovert, as much sensing as intuitive, and as much judging as perceiving.

I'd say that of all of them I most clearly identify with the Executive Mom but that's more out of necessity than anything else. With 4 kids in the house, someone has to be in charge. I could see myself in other descriptions too but there were definitely some for which I thought "that is SO not me!"

I don't care to know how Myers-Briggs identifies my parenting style. Do you feel like you need a test result to defend why you parent the way you do?

I think parenting "style" should not just depend on the personality and choices of the parent, because it's not just about the parent. I parent my kids differently, because they are vastly different.

Edit* I see that your most recent question about behavior on Mamapedia was removed. It's too bad that you decided to try to shame the posters here by reducing their intelligence to NOTHING, because I think you are missing out on some truly insightful answers. I am sure that you lump my answer in with your assessment of "absurd and ignorant", but unlike you in your deleted post, I didn't intend any malice.

ENTJ does that sound right? I always forget.

I do know it nails me pretty well.

INFJ... we are a small group, according to stats. 2% of women, 1% of men... lots of writers, apparently.

I don't think I really have one set parenting style. We are somewhat strict on the things we feel are important (respectful behavior, esp in regard to adults/teachers/elders), knowing one's place in the world (not the most important person in the room), and I think there is a small part Tiger Mom in me. But I am pretty lax about other things.... I can't remember a time in the last three weeks when there weren't Legos on his floor and I'm happy to accommodate his different preferences at mealtimes to a degree.

I'm the mom who checks back in after saying 'goodnight' if I think something's bugging Kiddo-- I love that he uses those opportunities to tell me what's on his heart. I'm somewhat of a tough cookie in life, but have a very soft spot for him and for those I love and care about.

I like being a mom and take the job perhaps too seriously (I studied this more or less in the 20 years I did childcare), but it is a role which has invited me to develop in different ways as a person as well, and I think those moments in life are a gift.

The enfp momma. And...yea I would say thats me! Though I do love Theresa's answer. So I am a rolling with the punches mom. But for the sake of just a fun quiz it got it right. In fact I started homeschooling my kids because I wanted them to find fun ways to learn.
