Does anyone know of a good mechanic (or ones to avoid) in the Roseville, St. Clair Shores, Warren, Sterling Heights area. Both mine & my husbands cars are in need of quick repair (squeeling/grinding brakes, major grinding while driving...husbands engine light keeps coming on & now the car acts like it wants to stall...) Already took both vehicles to 2 different places and I was told that my brakes are almost "brand new" -nothing wrong with them and spend $350 on husbands car and engine light is still coming on and now additional problem.

Thanks!!

What can I do next?

My husband and I have had Stan's Auto do all of our auto repairs for many years now. Honest, trustworthy, and won't recommend any repair that is not really needed. Stan's (aka Gene's Muffler) is located at 25357 Van Dyke, between 9 & 9 1/2 Mile). ###-###-####

I haven't lived out here very long, maybe only 4 1/2 years, but my husband always had us going to D&P Auto, it's on the corner of Martin and Gratiot in Roseville. I guess he's gone to the guy for many years. My mother in law goes somewhere, it's at 13 mile and Groesbeck, not real sure the name of it though. Hope it helps.

Katie,

This isn't as close to you as you'd like I'm sure, but this guy is honest and fast. I've also never had him quote me higher than the "other guys". My whole family has been going to him years now, and a few friends have started too.

It's called "Vinnie's Garage" and it's on 11 Mile Rd just West of Dequidre. So from Roseville you'd take 696 west to the 11 Mile Exit (It's one exit past Mound) and stay on 11 mile. Pass Dequindre and it's 2 or 3 blocks down on your left.

I'd recommend calling first as sometimes they are very quick in and out and others there is a wait.

I recommend Progressive Auto on 9 Mile Road just East of Schoenherr in Warren. We've taken our minivan there several times and they are honest, quick and affordable.

I don't know any repair centers in that area but with the engine light coming on, your husband can take his car to most auto parts store and they have a little computer they can hook up and tell you want is setting that light off. They do this for free!
