Hi A.,

I recommend Brian over at The Car Shop, it's on Nebraska just north of Busch. He has always been fair with me and I've taken him 3 different cars over the years. I know he may not be happy with me telling you this but I'm going to anyway because I think it's what sets him apart from other mechanics. I had a car issue and the warranty had run out on it by about 3 months, he took care of it anyway as if it was under warranty and I never had that issue again. THAT'S an honest mechanic. His number is ###-###-####. Hope this helps.

Also check the local business reviews tab above. Not sure where you live, but we usually take our car to Southern Comfort on Linebaugh near Anderson Rd. Small privately owned shop but the guy is honest and tells you what really needs to be fixed at the time and for a very fair price. If we have to take our car to the dealership for something under warranty and they give us a huge list of repairs, we will take the car to Southern Comfort to get a quote and more often than not, half of the stuff doesn't even need to be repaired right away.

I have used Kelley's Auto on Bonacker Dr. in Tampa for more than 10 years, and had nothing but the best service and lowest prices every sigle time! Mark is the owner, and head mechanic, and his wife Kim runs the office and answers the phone. Honest, hard-working, and ethical people!

We've used Herman's Auto Clinic for the past 5 y rs and have been nothing but thrilled with their service. A friend recommended him when we first moved here and she had been using him for 15-20 yrs, and honestly we were a bit dubious... it isn't exactly a garage - most if not all of the work is done outside under the big oak trees. So if you can look past the setting, you'll get good quality, honest work. Tell them Jim Anderson sent you and he'll be your instant friend! If you go today you can visit my van - it is there for it's 93000 mile check up and something is crazy with the brakes!

It's on Florida between bearrs and Fletcher... here is the google info

I have to agree with Sandy - we take our cars to Olin Mott on 60 in Brandon as well and Neil is always fast and fair. My brother-in-law is an awesome mechanic but he is up in Beverly Hills so I have him do some work but only if I happen to be going for a visit, otherwise Olin Mott is it in our house.

Good Luck

In South Tampa there is a place called Larkim's ....fair and will not even attempt the work if they cannot do it. Also, Gary's Automotive on Pearl....they are a little more expensive but he does good work as does his employees.

Hope this helps.

Hi A.,
I have had the best service at the Olin Mott in Brandon on 60. The owner, Neal, is fair on his prices and they do quality work. I have been taking my cars there for 18 years and highly recommend them. I currently have my car on an extended warranty with the dealer, but when I need routine maintenance, I will drive from Zephyrhills to have them work on it. Trust is a great thing when working with an auto shop.
Let them know that S. Young sent you.

A., I have no idea where you live, but I have been VERY happy with the Meineke shop on South Dale Mabry and Euclid. A guy named Jason runs the shop, and they have been very honest. My husband's transmission went into some sort of lock mode (it is a Chevy Tracker), and if they were dishhonest, they probably could have charged us a fortune. Instead, Jason showed my husband what happened and told us there was absolutely nothing wrong with the car. He even showed my husband what to do if it went into this mode again. My husband offered him money, and he refused to take it because he didn't fix anything. Since this shop is part of the Meineke system, they take ALL Meineke coupons, and you can print some on line through their yellow pages ads. A., I know how you feel. Prior to finding this shop, my husband and I were going shop to shop--not quite sure about the service we were getting. With Jason, he will be very honest and tell you what absolutely has to be done. If your car needs a lot of work, he will create phases and tell you which parts are necessary now, and what can wait.
