It depends on what you drive. I've got great, independent mechanics for Saab, Audi and Volkswagen. I've got a Lexus right now and take it to the dealer. I've only driven imports and know that you need a specialist to work on those with best results. Let me know if any of those would be helpful.

I work in a car repair shop in Roseville (but we only do foreign cars and I don't know what type you have. Did the shop you used call it an oil container? (I ask because that is not a typical term that would be used).

If you have a domestic make/model of car then I second the recommendation for St. Anthony Mobil. They are extremely honest and will talk you through your options (similar to my shop). I glad that one poster had good experiences with Bobby & Steve's but I find them to be pushy and try to upsell a lot. I am sure it depends somewhat on which location or manager but generally the philosophy on selling work is dictated from the top down. I am not familiar with the other shop mentioned.

I am happy to do an estimate for you via email if you give me the info on the car and the exact name of the part needing replacement (is it the oil pan or oil pan gasket by chance?).

Not sure where you are located, but Elecratune on East Lake (Longfellow neighborhood near Mississippi River) is very reputable. The owner is extremely kind and honest and ALWAYS in a great mood. My husband knows his cars and trusts this guy. Good luck!

I was also going to recommend Electra Tune, as the previous mom did. We went there for the first time this week and they were great. Definitely try them.
