Name That Puppy!

Hey mamas! My Mom is bringing home her German Shepard puppy in a few weeks and she is trying to figure out a name. She's a female and will be home July 2nd. Right now she is making lists of names and then will decide after she visits her a few more times (the breeder is having my mom come out a few times to visit the pup so she'll be used to my mom and her smells when she goes home). So what do you got ladies (and gentlemen)?! Who wants to help name the puppy?

What can I do next?

There are a TON of dog naming websites and they are grouped by category--popular, unique, for females, by color, by nationality (she could find something German), etc. I named my most recent puppy from a baby naming book. He is Remy, a French name for boys/men. My previous dogs were named from characters in Norse mythology. Have fun naming!

Our German Shepherd puppy is named Abby.

She's going to love having a German Shepherd! Sweet dogs. They're also very, very smart and get into lots of trouble in an instant (we have proof with holes in our carpet and chewed through cable lines), so make sure she starts training early.

Some one already mentioned my favorite for a German dog and it's Gretchen. Also Heidi is good.

Don't know if your mom is keen on being humorous, but some of the best dog names I've ever encountered are sarcastic - bruiser or king, or brutus, for a small/ teacup dog. Or a name like kitty, tiny, or fluffy for a big dog like a great dane, doberman, shepard.

Our dog is a shelter dog, she was named Lucky by the shelter. We decided to stick with the name.

My husband and I went on our honeymoon in Hawaii...our first dog was named KONA (female) and our current puppy is named HILO (hee-low - male). A name from a favorite vacation destination is always a fun route to take :-)

How about "Shatz". It is german for "Treasured".
It is pronounced more like "Shot-Z" I believe.

Soemthing about youru interests. If you're a hiker name her after your favorite park or mountain range (Rocki, Shenandoah, etc.) If you're a chef go for food names (Fusilli, beefy, pesto). You get the idea - for sweets lovers or baking use Hershey, CoCo or muffin. If you're into football maybe you use Peyton.

Various names I've loved for two pets: Barnum & Baily, thunder & Lightning, peanut & cashew. Our pets are Peaches (for her coloring) & Rocket (my son wanted to anme him after the fireworks we had seen the few days earlier).

Our female dog's name is Sasha Shalom. Hubby calls her Sasha Fierce. She is very aggressive with our big dog and he just loves it.
