This may sound silly, but is there a special trick to get your child to wear mittens? If my hands are cold, then my daughter's must be too! She just pulls them right off. We are frequently outside walking the dog or just walking around town so I'd like her hands to stay warm. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried "practicing" with the fun bath mits, using them to wash herself as well as her dolls. Or playing with oven mits? Or getting the carwash mit to wash her riding toys or play or real cars? Seems like the more she "practiced" having her whole had covered, the more she'd feel comfortable.
I used to worry about this too. Natural consequences work the best. When she gets cold she'll put them on. My son always makes a big deal over the coat, he'll wear everything else, so I let him get cold and he's very happy to put it on then. I know it sounds awful but it really does work. I recently found those knit gloves that stretch and those have been a hit. Target had them in all sizes even babies. My son says that he doesn't feel like he has mittens on. These have worked better than bulky mittens! Good luck, H.
I took a piece of string & sewed it to the mittens & then fed the mittens down her sleeve. The string will go behind her back so she won't even know it is there.This also helps with only being able to find one mitten which is why my cousin did it.
My son is 14 months, and he loves his mittens. When we got them, we got the knit kind with grips on the inside, and a pair for my husband. They both put them on, and played a game of trying to pick up a small ball with mittens on. My son had such a good time with the game, that he gets so excited every time he sees his mittens! If you show her that they are for fun, she might be more willing to wear them :)
When my daughter is in a no-mitten phase, I have her wear a coat that is a bit big (she has a big sis, so lots of hand-me-downs), and just leave the cuff of the sleeves hanging over her hands. As long as we are not out playing in the snow, or standing in the cold for a long time...just in and out of places it seems to work good.

I used the dora clips from Walmart and used gloves instead of mittens. She has days she does not want them, but there are other days she askes for them! Good Luck!

Have you tried the mitten clips the keep the mitten attached to the coat? They have some real cute ones at Walmart.
You could try getting the clips or sewing yarn to them and feeding it through the sleeves of her coat. If nothing else, it will prevent you from losing lots of mittens!
