Looking for Ob Gyn - Maryland Heights,MO

Hi. I'm new to the St. Louis area and am 14 weeks pregnant. I did my research and found an ob gyn who looked promising. After 2 doctor's visits, I know that the nurses and ultrasound techs are PHENOMENAL, but when I actually met the doctor, she didn't even introduce herself, nor did she exude any bit of warmth or friendliness. This is my first kid, and I have no family here, so I am looking for a doctor who is a litttle friendlier and who doesn't make me feel like I'm just part of her "chores" for the day.

I deally, I would hope to find an ob gyn who is a little on the younger side (but not that limited; under 50 or 55) and preferably female. Niether of these are deal-breakers, though; a good doctor is a good doctor. Most importantly, perhaps, I want a practice where I feel like I have some say in my pregnancy and delivery (eg., no mandatory episiotomies). I live in Maryland Heights, but distance is not a huge issue at this point. Oh, and I do know there are some similar posts (which is how I came across the first doctor, who didn't pan out for me), but most of them are years old.

Thank you so much for any thoughts or recommendations!! :)

Congrats!! I agree with Rachel. Dr. Cartwright at Genesis Obgyn at DePaul is AWESOME. I live in Maryland Heights as well and it takes me 3 minutes to get there. I see another dr in that office which I love but saw Cartwright once when my regular dr was on vacation and ironically she was on call when I had my second child. She is so energetic and excited to see you. The girls in the office are really nice as well. good luck. ###-###-####

I've been with my gynecologist, Dr. Jerry Sachar, for 20 years now, so he's not so young (or female!) but I really like him a lot. We weren't able to get pregnant but he helped me through the fertility issues, and he has a ton of pregnant ladies and babies in the waiting room, so I'm pretty sure he's good there. If I ever need something, I call in and he calls me right back, which as you know is rare for doctors! I sent my good friend to him (she's young and unmarried, so no baby issues yet) and she loves him too. He's at Missouri Baptist. He's very chatty (sometimes a little too much, when your legs are up in the air!) and both he and the staff are super friendly. Good luck!

Try the Balanced Care for Women on Olive Blvd...............I see Dr. Holly Kodner. She and her staff are very nice and friendly. I have only seen her for GYN things. The Balanced Care for Women Clinic only has female doctors and nurse practitioners. The website is below!

Dr.Janet Matuszek at St.Luke's in Chesterfield and St.Peters is fantastic. She's really, really busy though so you have to wait awhile for all of your appointments. But, she's really really good, she personally called me at home twice to check on me after my delivery.

I love, love, love my OB. My son is 4 months old and I actually miss going to her office! She is sweet, friendly, compassionate, and willing to give you the birth experience you want. I can't say enough good things about her. The nursing staff is wonderful, too! Dr. Laura Moore with Obstetrical Associates ###-###-####. She sees patients and delivers at St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield (I've delivered there twice and had very good experiences). http://www.womensmd.com/ Best of luck, and congratulations on your new little one!

I live in Maryland Hts too and I go to Seasons Health Care 4 Women at St. Luke's. I am 36 weeks pregnant with my 2nd and have felt more comfortable with this office then I did at my last that I had gone to for years before I got pregnant. I actually just talked to my doctor again to make sure we were on the same page since it's getting close. I don't want episiotomie and I don't want to be forced into a c-section. She is willing to let your body do what it is meant to do. If it becomes medically necessary then it's a different story. I also love the fact that if I have a question between visits I can email her and she gets back to me pretty fast. They also have a website that can answer some questions for you like a list of meds approved by her and more. This is the website so you can look for yourself - http://www.seasonshealthcare4women.com/
Hope everything works out for you your doctor can make this the best or worst experience for you if you do not like them or the way they choice to practice medicine.

I had a great experience with my female OB-GYN, Dr. Gray-Swain, and I plan to go back to her again if I have another child. Her partner is also a woman, with more experience, but a cooler manner. Dr. Gray-Swain is warm and always took the time to answer my questions, which I really needed as a first-time mom as well. She believes in low-intervention and we talked through potential issues and outcomes weeks before I went into labor. Their brand new office is very nice, just off 64/40 near the science center, so closer to the city but with free parking.

Congratulations and good luck!

I love my doctor. He is funny and always makes me laugh. All of my cousins and aunts go to him as well. He is in a group of 4 doctors, 2 men and 2 women. That way you can meet them all and then decide who you want as your doctor and it is all in the same office. The nurses are great. My sister is a major hypocondriac (sp?) and they always calm her fears and not make her feel dumb. They at at St. Lukes. It is called Womens Healthcare. My dr is Dr. Durer. The website is www.womenshealthcareinc.com and the # is ###-###-####.

Hi there. I have a WONDERFUL OB/GYN but he is a man. His name is Dr. David Super. He was in St. Louis Magazines top docs for 2009. I believe I have referred about 15 people to him so far and all have said that he is just the best. There are 6 docs in the practice and the ones that deliver babies are all under the age of 40. The practice is wonderful. The location of the office is at Gravois and 270. He delivers at St. Johns and Missouri Baptist. He number is ###-###-####. Good Luck to you!

Hi Meghan - Congrats on your pregnancy. I see Dr. Cartwright at Genesis Obgyn: http://www.genesisobgyn.com/home, she's in the doctor's building at DePaul, and I would definitely recommend her. I think she's mid to late 30s and had her first kiddo shortly after my first. I'm now on baby #3 and still love her. Good luck!

I did a lot of research, including on the mothering.com website and kept coming up with Claudia Krasnoff...she's supposed to be good with low intervention births. I've seen her a few times, but not for pregnancy. She's young, but not too green. I liked her, although I haven't seen enough of her to know how friendly she is overall. I've also heard good things about Pamela Campbell and Cherese Collins, MD...women's health partners at St. anthony....all women practice and all young.
